My normal temperature is ~97.2. I've noticed for at least the last week that my temperature has been elevated most of the time (98+) with the occasional spike (99+) during the day. Through checking the past 3 days, it's been very low (96-) for a short time after waking up. The highest I've recorded so far is 99.5 and the lowest is 95.5. Aside from a minor stomach bug that already passed and intermittent annoying-but-not-severe fatigue, I haven't shown any signs of actually being sick during this span. It's not enough to keep me from living life "normally", but it's enough to be a notable disruption at times. 99.5 is roughly the equivalent of 101 to me.

Just for example, roughly an hour ago, it was 97.3. Roughly 40 minutes ago, it was 97.5. 20 minutes, 97.7. Now, it's 97.8.

I feel like this might be thyroid related? I have a pretty serious genetic disposition towards thyroid disorders.

It is very, very likely that you are fine. Body temperature fluctuates and you're within a normal range. Why are you taking your temperature so often?

Do you feel fine? Then don't worry about it. Your temperature will always be fluctuating within a degree or 2 depending on what you are doing.

To monitor it. Hitting 99 is decidedly rare for me and I almost never get that high. As soon as I saw 99.5, I started watching it more closely. Constant spikes into the 99s is concerning to me because every single one of them is like having a mild fever.

I think you are fine. More than anything, it seems like your anxiety could be the cause of you experiencing something close to a mild like fever. But like Bartz said, your temperature is going to fluctuate throughout the day as well as with whatever it is you are doing. Even things you wouldn't necessarily think of such as anxiety can trigger a change. I really wouldn't worry about it too much unless you are dipping or spiking much more substantially.

If you are super worried, and you have decent health insurance, see a doctor. I really, really don't believe that's necessary but it could give you some piece of mind.

The dipping isn't really a problem so much as a curiosity. I can randomly drop below 96 in winter and not even notice it for hours.

I know the body can naturally fluctuate between 1 and 2 degrees. I'm just not used to mine fluctuating this much.

I think part of the problem is I can tell the difference of a single point in temperature. I've been able to for longer than I can remember. All takes is me hitting ~98 and I already know without the need for any devices. This level of sensitivity is causing the spikes into the 99s to feel rather troublesome. That much I know.

But basically an overload on stress could naturally cause the fluctuations to increase beyond that which I am normally used to and the first thing I should do is see if cutting one or more stressors out relieves the problem.

Though.. I don't know why my current actions would be overloading me. It could be possible that something I cut out of my life fairly recently was in some way masking something else, but what I cut out was a fairly major cause of stress to begin with. Curious in itself. I have pondered if I've entered a phase like this once years ago, but I can't remember.

Your brain regulates your temperature. It'll probably stop adjusting your thermostat when you stop consciously thinking about your thermostat.
