Is there really that much of a market for all of these girl groups? I mean, the US only ever had a few active major boy bands going at any given time and girls would buy their stuff up in a hearbeat.

Yeah it's yes and no. For ALL of them no way, there's hundreds. Chances are unless you got the odds stacked in your favor somehow, it's a very costly gamble.
