So this is after the dark knight was out and before the dark knight rises. We were discussing what they were going to do with the joker, if anything at all. He had this amazing idea in his head where something is happening and Batman needs a very important and specific piece of information to stop something catastrophic. He finds out that the only person who knows this piece of information is none other than the joker.

There is a big scene after he finds out where Batman heads to Arkham and its super epic, and you see Batman walking down a bunch of jail cells showing random Easter egg villains in there, and finally gets to the jokers cell and.. the joker has slit his own throat, and has a huge smile on his face knowing what hes done.

I always thought that was the coolest idea. Obviously nothing like that was ever going to happen because of heath deadger, but it still was so awesome to me.

Im not gonna argue about it. Nicholson was great, but Ledgers was one of the best performances I have ever seen, superhero movie or not. For me, it was literally on par with Al Pacino in The Godfather or Daniel Day Lewis in there will be blood.

If it wasnt for you, thats fine too.

that would have been a good idea for the third movie. still would want a full movie building up the joker and batman beating him.

in one graphic novel though joker sorta kinda did this no info was on the line but he snapped his own neck knowing it would likely get batman framed for murder, which would be hard to disprove considering he also had a batarang lodged in his eye

No, actually. Jack's Joker was a passable interpretation, but the problem was that he was essentially apeing Caesar Romero's camp, Adam West joker on the set of the modern, grimdark interpretation of Gotham so you had a jarring dissonance in the performance.

Sorry, but Ledger really understood what made the Joker tick and he went so far down the rabbit hole it killed him. Actually trying to method act the Joker is a really bad idea for one's own psyche.

I would really have loved to give Leto a chance but Ledger's joker is such a hard act to follow, and Suicide Squad unfortunately went with the Juggalo Scarface Joker visually so Leto never really stood a chance no matter how hard he tried to live as the Joker during filming.

My one major sorrow for the Joker was that Ledger died before someone had the sense to cast Brittany Murphy as Harley Quinn. I always saw her as Harley after her role in Sin City which was one spandex suit and a sledgehammer away from being Harley to begin with. Additionally, Heath and Brittany were close friends and I can only imagine that their chemistry as Joker and Harley would have been off the charts.

Margot Robbie was certainly eye candy as Harley, but her chemistry with Leto was pantomime at best, and half of Leto's performance was cutting room floor fodder for whatever reason.

Well obviously there wasnt going to be more ledger

It was more like the joker getting the last laugh, including him in the movie in a major part, all while not having to replace ledger (with any speaking roles, anyway)

They probably didn't want to profit off his death in any way.

That is something I felt very strongly about in terms of my relationship with Heath and the experience I went through with him on The Dark Knight, he said. I didnt want to in any way try and account for a real-life tragedy. That seemed inappropriate to me. We just have a new set of characters and a continuation of Bruce Waynes story. Not involving The Joker.
