With Friday the 13th just passing and Halloween right around the corner it's time to start watching some of my old favorites. Feel free to share your favorite scary movies to watch!

My favorite series is definitely Friday the 13th, even as cheesy as it can be at times I fell in love with them as a kid. Followed closely by the leprechaun series lol
a movie I really enjoyed that was a great tribute to old slasher films was The final girl. Has the girl from American horror story in it
The best funny horror movie is tucker and dale vs evil check it out for a great laugh

none really. but if I had to choose one nightmare on elm street just cause freddy is unique in a genre more known for big lumbering brutes. and if reality the one i'd be most scared of.

makes me want to go watch Freddy vs Jason. Imo the best crossover movie that hit the nail on the head with both characters

I recently watched the new one and I enjoyed it...but definitely not as good as the first one. It might just be because I watched the first one as a kid when movies actually scared me

I tried watching Pet Semetary the other day and it was barely watchable and completely unscary. The complete opposite to what I remember.

In all seriousness, supernatural horror never bothers me. I still enjoy them, and they do provide scares, but not lasting ones.

Movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre freak me out because I could see it actually happening.

I can't think of any horror series that don't tank after the second or third movie, so I'll just list a few favorites:

The Shining
Eraserhead
Inland Empire
Suspiria
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
Psycho (original)
Peeping Tom
Straw Dogs
Dead Ringers
The Brood
The Fly (1986)
We Need to Talk About Kevin
The Cremator
The Wicker Man (original)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (original)
The Thing (1982)

As a kid the only movie that completely freaked me out was signs. I never understood why, it wasn't even scary but the soundtrack was so perfect it gave me the chills

Glad to see so many older movies. Not bashing because I still enjoy them but I feel like most recent horror movies are about supernatural beings and cheap jump scares

The Blair Witch Project. I tend to prefer themes of psychological horror and terror, and I like how TBWP does it without any CG/special effects, jump scares or extreme gore. It has a subtle hint of supernatural but pretty much leaves it to the imagination. The scene where they wake up in the middle of the night and hear sounds/voices outside the tent still creeps me out.

I like the Friday the 13th series (with the exception of the remake, Jason X, and Jason Goes to Hell), the Nightmare series (except for Parts 4, 5 New Nightmare, and the remake), and the original Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wolf Man movies.
