Do you think the prosecutors are making a mistake in not finding out who this "Eric" is?

29 y/o Quinton Tellis from Missisippi is facing Life in Prison without parole for the brutal murder of 19 y/o Jessica Chambers in 2014 whom was found horrifically burned in a car but firefighteers said before she died, she blamed someone named "Eric" for her murder as first responders testified on Wednesday!!

Quinton plead not guilty to her murder and authorities said they found Jessica with 93% of her body burned who died hours later in at a Memphis hospital..

However, prosecutors said Quinton is the man responsible who set her car on fire in a rural back ground and left her to die.

His defense attorney, Darla Palmer maintained that he is being falsely accused and is using the responders statements of Jessica's own statement before she died to show that someone else had killed her

Firefighters who responded to the scene wrapped her in blankets to keep her warm and she was wearing nothing but underwear when she was found and had trouble saying more than a few words at a time according to the firefighters statements. One of the first to the scene, Daniel Cole said she had soot around her nose and mouth and he asked her "Who did this?", she had responded with "Eric set me on fire"

The horrific murder surrounding the high school cheerleader's death is gaining national attention and the trial has been emotional with witnesses breaking down on the stand and spectators crying when jurors were shown graphic photoss of the crime scene..

Prosecutor John Champion said that Quinton and Jessica were having sex in the car on the evening she was killed and believes he suffocated her before killing her. Then he claims he ran to his sisters house and jumped in his sister's car and picked up gasoline to torch the car..

Quinton also faces a murder indictment where he's accused of the torture death of 34 y/o Taiwanese graduate Meing-Chen Hsiao..

Do you think the prosecutors are making a mistake in not finding out who this "Eric" is?

While I can certainly get why Quinton would be a suspect, it does seem like they should follow that Eric lead. Or Erik. I'm guessing she didn't specify "Eric with a c" when describing the killer. But yeah, seems like there's a good chance this Eric or Erik person may have killed her, so it's worth looking into, at least.

Fairly sure they think he did it because they think he murdered somebody else so he has no moral fiber.

Wait, so the prosecutor claims that he killed her, then torched the car, even though she was still alive when the firefighters arrived? What's wrong with him?

When you suffocate somebody, they stop moving a couple minutes before they actually die. I would guess the guy assumed incorrectly that he'd managed to kill her, and torched the car to destroy the evidence, not realizing that she had survived.

As for Eric, if they've got enough evidence to convict somebody else, and no particular clues as to who "Eric" might be, I'd trust that evidence over the testimony of somebody who'd just been strangled to the point of unconsciousness and then woke up to being burned to death and gave said testimony shortly before dying from her injuries. That testimony is a lead worth pursuing, but not at the expense of pursuing more concrete leads that can't easily be dismissed as the delusional ramblings of somebody who probably was not of sound enough mind at the time to give a reliable testimony.

I'm pretty sure most of us would rather have sex than commit murder, given the choice.

He's clearly guilty. I mean you should never trust the victim on anything obviously.

Remember somewhat following the story years ago and that the story had a pretty wide array of suspects, but can't recall that many specifics beside it. I do remember hearing some claim that the gas station attendant might have been in on it.

Given that they repeatedly tried to track somebody with that name, it's not like they "made a mistake." However, it was clearly a dead-end. Dying people aren't always coherent.

They did try to follow it, but it didn't lead anywhere. Eventually you have to write off a bad lead if you're trying to find a killer.

I'd think so. Then again this guy could have gave her a false name so she believed he was Eric.

This is actually the most likely scenario, particularly considering the age difference between the two. Criminals give false names almost constantly, which is why Law Enforcement databases meticulously track other used names along with things like tattoos and piercings.
