a long ass time ago in the early-mid 00s I bought a sonic collection for PC from the store for 9.99 or something.

it contained: sonic 1, sonic 3, and sonic and knuckles

sega smash pack with sonic 2, vectorman, comix zone and others

sonic racing

sonic CD.

I guess I never realized sonic CD is a platforming sonic akin to 1, 2, and 3, so i never installed it. But I realize this now discovering it again, so I might play it. I guess i kinda overlooked this game, its considered pretty good.

What the hell did you expect it to be?

I think I played sonic R, which i thought was horrible, and never touched CD.

anyways i dont think this is going to work lmfao installing early 00s game(in terms of when this package was released) on windows 10.

i might switch to my old windows XP computer but then I have to move away from my main PC area and, ugh. also fuck buying it cause i own it already

Then just buy the 2011 rerelease.

CD is a love-it-or-hate it kinda game

What do you mean worst?

It's the Super Mario Maker of Sonic. But with 8 year olds making "Easy" courses by randomly placing things with the editor, with no sense of speed or platforming in mind whatsoever.

Are you talking about the Sonic CD, or the collection itself?

It's not a "version". It's a full remake. The underlying code is completely different than on the Sega CD (presumably written in C++ or C# instead of Assembly), and uses actual scaling in the bonus stages, native widescreen support, an actual menu system, both soundtracks, Tails support, and other minor things that you would need to go on Sonic Retro to view most of them.

I loved the game. One of my favorite sonic games

I played through it one time and it seemed really short and confusing. I get the sense that getting the "full" experience leans heavily on the time travel mechanic, but I barely was able to do anything with that since they don't really explain it well

I really liked CD when I originally played it.
