Current Events > Uh... Anyone know anything about heated blankets? Could use a bit of help.

So, I have had a heated blanket for a couple years, and I bought a replacement one for this winter. The problem is, the old one had a really nice control setup where the box to turn it on and change the temperature was on a separate cord so I could keep it on my nightstand.

This new one, however, has the controller right at the point where the cord connects to the blanket, which is at the foot of the bed. This means I have to get out of bed to turn it on and off, or change the temperature.

So, I was wondering if I could use my old cord with this new blanket. They are the same size, a single 'zone', and they use the same connectors. I'd really like to not burn myself alive, so I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on this.

Sadly, I bought it back in June... or July? Not sure. It was on sale, and I'm not even sure what store I bought it at. I could just go buy another one, but I'm just so damn lazy and sleepy...

I mean, they are both Sunbeam blankets, and after some checking they are the same wattage. The only difference between them appears to be the control 'style' as it's put on the back of each controller box. I'm 99% sure that it will work, I'm just worried that it might burn out the nice controller and I won't be able to use it with my older but less nice blanket.

This new one is just so, so fluffy...

Oh! So, after finding the correct combination of words to google, it turns out that the controllers are universal. The only way they aren't is if you use a multi-zone controller for a single zone blanket, or vice versa. Awesome.

Can't you just turn the blanket around to have the foot up near your head, so the controller is closer?
