Your link says 8% owned slaves.

That's out of the entire population of the country. As you know, slavery was illegal in the North.

The fact is, in the South where slavery was legal, a third of families owned slaves. Almost all of these families were white.

Ah I see what you're doing now. You're only including the south in this argument so it can look like more people owned slaves in America.

Last time i checked when the conversation of slavery is brought up today, people focus on all of America.

So either way a small minority of whites owned slaves so guilt shaming is pointless.

I'm including the half of the country where slavery was legal. Obviously it boosted the economies in both the South and North, though. And I'm being very honest about the numbers and where they come from--I'm specifically calling out the South.

Meanwhile your pathetic coward ass is quoting non-sourced "statistics" inspired by right-wing extremist sites because coming to the defense of white slaveowners, neo-Nazis and white supremacists is your full-time hobby for some strange reason.

And @NINExATExSEVEN, please note that there was zero "guilt shaming" going on.

tommybel89 sarcastically asked if black people were the only slaves in the history of mankind. I explained to him that the class was specifically about slavery in early America, and that obviously the trans-atlantic slave trade DID focus almost entirely on black people. No shaming whatsoever. And tommybel himself admitted he didn't read the first post, and backed off.

But then for some reason as if someone put a bat-signal in the sky you showed up to defend slavery and try to say that it wasn't a big deal and wasn't widespread and white people aren't that bad and...

So fuck off with your "you were guilt shaming" garbage, buddy. You got your panties in a twist because someone said "the trans-atlantic slave trade affected blacks more than any other group." It's weird that you would somehow feel guilty for any of that when no one was saying you should.

I'm saying that the conversation of slavery that's brought up today shouldn't be used to guilt whites since the majority didn't have slaves.

Slavery is essentially used as an argument to make whites stay shut on the topic of race and that's bs.

We have just as much right to talk about it as anybody else.

And I (and most important historians) say that the majority of whites benefited from slavery (and Jim Crow), regardless of whether they owned them or not. We don't have to feel guilty about it but pretending as if we are all on the same level is ridiculous.

Middle easterners didn't own too many slaves back in early America, so I'm not sure what you mean.

It's the very definition of discrimination. Of course she should be relieved of her duties. How can any student believe or expect that they will be graded on the merit of their work when she admittedly and actively discriminates against students based on race and gender? I'd get a full refund for the class and speak with the dean for wasting my mother fucking time with this bitch.

EVERYBODY benefited from slavery. Literally everybody today in America has benefited from it. Just because whites benefited more does not mean that the conversation should be one sided.

Look I don't get where you're going with this. I pointed out that a minority of whites owned slaves so the majority have no ancestors that were slave owners, so we have fair game when it comes to the conversation.

I've never seen you actually defend whites even though you're white, but i have seen you mock them in topics. Oh and minorities who defend them.

And your point was completely unnecessary. The person who made the statement that I was responding to had the balls to admit he was wrong. No one was attacking whites or telling them to feel guilty but you felt the need to rush in and defend slaveowners, like you always do.

You've said this to me before, but then backed off after being presented proof that I defend everybody when they're actual victims. You've literally apologized to me for this before.

So now we're at a point where I'm wondering what's wrong with your brain. Do you forget things easily? Is there some kind of disconnect that causes you to immediately and angrily defend the worst white people you can find? Do you not realize that no matter how much you try to gargle them, slaveowners, neo-nazis, and white supremacists would never align with you and in fact would bloody your dumb ass on sight? Please don't answer any of these questions. They're rhetorical.
