think that isn't exactly a fair comparison.

Racism, discrimination, same sport, different league. The scale is obviously different.

I'm guessing this woman calls on black women first because she picked one of the most marginalized demographics in the U.S.

Women are a (very slight) majority, whether or not they exercise it in collectivist action. Black men are more marginalized by any passable definition. The prisons aren't flooded with black women, the streets aren't red with black women's blood. Hyperbolic yes but the point* stands.
But regardless, her classroom doesn't exist to right the injustices of the world. Nor can they be righted by her discrimination.

and is trying to give them an advantage. However, she has just gone about this in a VERY wrong way and it comes across as very racist.

Because it is racist.

See this is always a bullshit argument because in situations like this, you're not dealing with demographics as a whole, you're dealing with individuals.

So it doesn't matter what a demographic trend may be because the individual can easily not be part of that trend. Black people can be well off and non blacks can be worse off as individuals.

I'm not here to dispute or confirm that notion you are presenting. Nor am I trying to justify her position. Again, I'm disputing Anarchy's comparison which I don't think is accurate.

My bad i didn't direct that to you. It was directed towards anybody who makes pro discrimination arguments based on demographic trends instead of individuals.

It's just so stupid.

1. You're mistaking marginalized with minority

Fair enough.

2. White supremacists

I said white separatists. And not that I take their word for anything, they often say (pretend) their policies benefit all races.

3. My comparison was really just a convoluted way to say "I don't really care about meaning well in this case." I guess I could have just used the adage, "the path to hell . . . "-
Obviously she's better, a more moral person, less of a danger to society, etc etc etc than whichever version of white S's you wanna choose.
It wasn't really a comparison, it was a juxtaposition of the logic and rationale, not the morality, result, or affect.

I disagree. It think it's more about virtue signaling. I don't think the type of person who would do something like this out of good intentions would then go gloat about their oppression hierarchy on Twitter.

Definitely think that was stupid to post. And I dont think her strategy benefits anyone other than herself (its not going to change anything only make her feel better).

That said, Im willing to bet a majority of people who react to this either arent aware or dont have the same passion to fight the same treatment that occurs elsewhere but goes unspoken.

Not everything has to be centered around white people. The class itself and the title? That should readily make it clear that black students would have much more relevant discussion points to make.
Cause white people at that time weren't a part of the problem with slavery and discrimination? Even when you think you're making a point it makes no sense. White people now who never were slave owners can't chime in on slavery and discrimination with African Americans that were never slaves now? How much denial are you in before you can just admit that you are biased and have no leg to stand on? To fix a problem all factors involved in that problem have to be considered.

That's not how things work in America. We live in a multicultural and multiracial country. We are diverse. You don't get to discriminate againt people due to their race. Period.

If you don't like it, move to a different country.

And a huge part of multiculturalism is acknowledging the different backgrounds everyone hails from and that certain races WILL have experiences with actual discrimination on a systemic level. Meanwhile, oh no, white guys can't dominate every talk in class as much, and you cry discrimination. There was that study the other year showing that if girls in class even got like 30-40% of the discussion time, guys still thought the girls had a large majority of the time to talk. But yet CE totally cried foul over the results and pulled out sexism.

I don't know about you, but when I was in college if the professor had a connection to an actual person from the culture we were discussing, he/she would bring them in for special lectures. It's not that we *only* needed to hear from that person, but they definitely got a platform of importance and their opinions were seen as vital.

Why really bothers me about this is how poorly calculated it is.

Reinforces the "this is why Trump won" narrative, it's blatantly caustic and divisive, simply racist/sexist and fuck it, to reiterate, serves anti-sjw, right wing propaganda. This helps people like Richard Spencer more than "allowing him to speak" ever* could. The totality of shit like this causes the pendulum to swing so far it feels like there's no going back. And moderates like myself are the ones going to have our throats cut as it oscillates.

What purpose could that have served, as well as "bragging about it", that makes up for the social cost?
Virtue signaling doesn't even begin to describe it. God damn that hurts her own side so much there's no rational or intelligent reason you do this.

You're awfully good at hyperboles that make little sense. This is about classroom discussions and who gets priority in discussion. So yeah, it makes sense that if a Chinese student wants to submit an idea to the class, or respond to a question somebody else asked, they'd be a better choice to answer if they so desire.

The only conclusion I can draw is students who match the demographics of those that were most negatively impacted by the subject of the class get priority acknowledgement. Am I following you right?

So like... WWII class should focus on Jewish input the most and German people the least? Oh wait, that would be really hard to figure out through visual cues... last names maybe?
