1k isn't really enough. I'd be pretty demoralised to lose all the saves I have, especially since a fair few are things I'm not necessarily done for good with and have a large time investment.

I would not give up all my saves with all the time and effort put into them for any amont of money. Hell I was pissed as hell losing my one Pokemon Gold save years ago.

I wiped all my game saves once so i wouldn't feel hung up about continuing a years-abandoned game instead of just restarting.
Funnily enough, looking back on things, it hasn't been an issue.

I just finished collecting all 3040 Harvest Moon cards so I don't need that file anymore.

I'll have to restart The Longest Journey and Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex but those are both fairly short.

I'll take the cash, I think. Old saves are mostly just collecting dust; I rarely replay old files and often opt for new playthroughs, and stuff like high scores/top times can be preserved via photo or something. Nor do I play a game with a bunch of unlockables anymore (rip soul caliber 2).

It roughly boils down to "$1000, or lose progress in all the games you're actively playing". Biggest losses would be my mobile game accounts (Puzzles and Dragons / FF Record Keeper) because the latter is more than 3 years old and the former is almost 1 year. That's.... a lot of daily log ins and progress, but $1k would be welcome and I can just restart them.

Til this day, I still regret trading in (and I very Very rarely trade anything to begin with - maybe 5 games in the past 10 years, and those were towards getting the remaster verisons) my original Xbox with all the epic save files I had on that system
