So with the world series upon us I figured I would do another PotD out of the park baseball challenge.

I may include other prizes later on but right now what is up for grabs is a fifteen dollar Amazon gift card.

The format is this: a 30 game classification round to figure out the seeding for the playoffs(there is a small 3 week 'spring training as well, but this does affect much). Each team plays each other team twice, to make it fair. Then, each of the sixteen teams are entered into a playoff where each round is seven games, NCAA tournament style(aka 1 vs 16, 15 vs 2 set up like a quadrant of an NCAA basketball bracket would be). I have injuries turned on, so some teams might underperform as a result. I also have suspensions turned on.

So, lets meet the teams! Player ages are super high because this takes place in 2017, and the ages are from when the player was actually born. This will not affect player performance. The stars are the rating of a player, so 5 is top tier, and on down the line. Some of these ratings might be questionable but thats Out of the park Baseball for ya.

@hellwithoutsin - 2002 Anaheim Angels (in real life went 99-63, beat the San Fransisco Giants 4-3)

@dragon504 - 1995 Atlants Braves (90-54, Cleveland 4-2)

@Red_Frog - 1983 Baltimore Orioles (98-64, Philadelphia 4-1)

@darcandkharg31 1903 Boston Americans (91-47, 5-3 Pittburg) (note: this must have been their roster in 1903. Lacking some players but each position is filed. I am sorry, but this is what you get)

Uh.... the 1967 cardinals have Bob Gibson, but where TF is Lou Brock??

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Brock
https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/STL/1967.shtml

I might have to change my team if he's not in the lineup <_<... those two are the reason I picked that cardinals year, lol

Hopefully your picture just doesn't show the entire roster :p

Yes, he did.

I wanted to include some sort of spring training because I wanted teams to have time to prepare, and I guess injuries(set to regular modern day) are more ferocious than I thought.

yeah if they arent on the roster(which is a screenshot of the active roster) they must have gotten injured in the spring training.

I could re-do this without the spring training if you folks think that is okay, but I wont disable injuries as thats just a part of the game

Thank goodness, the Americans would have it in the bag. If you're approaching 150 and still playing ball, you're a tough bastard.

Yeah, my team started pretty strong for the 100 year challenge, but fizzled afterwards. Think I finished in the top half, but not that close to the leader.

So, I simulated the classification round, and in first place was the 2004 Red Sox at 22-8. In last place was the 1996 Yankees at 7-23. Also sorry Reg, Lou Brock is now out 6-8 weeks with an injury. He wasnt as injured before but might have aggravated it in the season

gonna show some regular season stats next, then some playoff matchup info but not simulate until tomorrow

So the regular season leaders...Jason Varitek of the 04 Sox leading a lot of batting categories, including wins above replacement. Fans of this league are saying HOBE! because Hobe Ferris(who?) of the 1903 Boston Americans tied Varitek and Babe Ruth with 9 Home runs.

swooSRj

As far as pitchers go Jarrod Washburn of Anaheim edged out Greg Maddux for the ERA crown, Bronson Arroyo and Vinegar Bend Mizell of Pittsburgh tied with 6 wins. Rawly Eastwick of Cincinnati has 12 saves and the strikeout king was Carl Mays of the 1923 Red Sox with 75. The WAR champ was Bob Friend of Pittsburgh with 2.1. Vin Mizell of Pittsburgh pitched 53.1 innings without giving up a single homer, also Greg Maddux of atlanta and Wilcy Moore of the 1927 Yankees pitched 30 innings without giving up a homer also.

Those screens BTW dont show what year a player was on a team, so if anybody cares I can hone in on that information if you're curious. Like for strikeouts two from 1918 Boston and then Bill Dinneen of 1903 boston.

Also am I reading this right, or did Pedro Martinez throw 17 strikeouts in a game against the Yankees during the regular season AND STILL LOST THE GAME???

I mean looking it up it has happened before, several times in fact, including Randy Johnson throwing 19 strikeouts and losing the game, but still come on.

can't wait to see just how bad my cardinals fail without one of their key team members.... darn you realistic injuries :p!

also, bob gibson should be starting 3 games each series instead of two so it can be just like real life when they won that year and I have a better chance of actually getting somewhere.... SO WHAT IF IT CAN'T HAPPEN, I WANT IT TO! BWAH!
