Almost every character I want is either a 5* or 4* and they're almost equally rare to summon. I know you can still beat content with free Servants and 1-2*s, but I'm not sure I really care about most of them. Not yet anyways. The least they could do is make banners better since you're more likely to pull Craft Essences than Servants anyways...

It's interesting comparing this game's gacha to something like FFBE's. FFBE has similarly bad rates, but in general FGO's more common units are more useful. But, FGO has items in its gacha so that's bad.

obviously Dokkan Battle has them both beat but we all know that

I'd love it if this had Dokkan Battle's gacha. Craft Essence being part of pulls is so terrible even when I get a good one it's like I might as well have pulled nothing. There's a very real and very sad possibility my 330~ Quartz and 17 tickets gets me 90-95% Craft Essence pulls. I mean you're only guaranteed 1 3* Servant I think and on Gilgamesh I had several pulls where that was the only Servant I got. It's so bad

Item gacha is what turned me away from FFRK. Random summoning for items and weapons just isn't fun, IMO.

Just change the guaranteed pull on the 10s to a 4* minimum servant or a 5* craft essence

That's literally the only thing that needs to be changed I feel for this game's gacha to be "fine"

But there's nothing more soul crushing than a bunch of a 3* servants and craft essences, and a 4* craft essence as your guaranteed. Doubly so now that I have all the 3*s I like at NP5.

I have most of the 3*s in the game at NP 4-5 just from friend summons. It really should be a guaranteed 4* Servant since that's an SR equivalent. Who even wants a guaranteed R? That's like generally worthless in any gacha since they're always part of friend summons

Keep in mind that we generally get changes at the same time Japan did, which means it'll stay the same for at least two years.

Also banners are pretty much always rolled for just one Servant...

The luxury of this game is because the 1-3*s are so viable, that rolling for one and failing isn't the worst thing in the world. It's not like you constantly need to be getting every 4* or 5* you want to clear content.

Also what changes did Japan get, specifically talking about the relevant ones here? Does their Gacha get less awful at some point?

not to mention from here on the events are giving free 4*s (with NP5 if you put in the grind) and most are at least good if not great

The problem is with other mobile games I've played each banner usually has several new characters to pull for. Okita's is going on after what like 4-5 total months or so and features more 3*s people probably got from friend summons ages ago than 4-5* Servants. You don't want your banner to have more featured Rs than SRs or SSRs unless you're either really hopeful people will waste their money or want to make players unhappy.

It doesn't matter how many 3* Servants are on the banner. That doesn't affect your chances of getting the 5* or 4* Servant. I think almost every banner has more 3*s on it than 5*s.

I've actually heard most people say they prefer when only one 5* Servant is on the banner, since that means there's more chance of getting the one Servant you want. The more 5*s are on there the smaller the chance of getting each of them.

As far as I know he's a good choice to grail, since he can use the extra HP for survivability, so go ahead. And it's not like Grails are finite source, just very rare.

Done every Interlude available to me. Need to Ascend more Servants for the rest. Also heard some Servants won't get their 3rd skill for MONTHS so that sucks (Ushiwakamaru and Kiyohime are two of them)

Yeah. June or July I think? I was really disappointed when I leveled up Arash, since his third skill is amazing for him.

This probably is part of the mindset when it comes to these types of games, but the mindset isn't necessarily solid.

Like unless you're the most profitable game of this genre, then it's not a necessarily given that the gacha is in the place it needs to be. I do think there's a balance to attain that's somewhere more generous than this one. This game probably loses a lot of business from the salmon or dolphins like me. Like there is literally 0 chance I will spend a cent on this game except on some manner of promotional draw-- like the New Years one I may bother. But I have spent quite a lot on other gacha type games-- not like 5 figure whale status but enough that if you lose everyone like me it will make a difference.

That being said I completely get why you'd be conservative with altering it while profits are still good because if you change it and profits go down well there's no going back.

It has been changed a couple times - the biggest one was making it so you only need three quartz to summon instead of four, a year into the game, and thank god we got that from the start. They also did some more beginner friendly stuff, like a guaranteed four star servant in your initial summon, and bonus quartz for new players. None of that was in there at first.

Ah. So you're saying profits went up after they made it more generous, since I didn't recall Fate/Grand Order being hyped by Sony last year-- unless of course the international release added a ton.

Still, I bet you could increase profits again by making it ever so slightly better. Like I said I think the 10 draws just being a hair better would make a huge difference. Like I could see myself paying for draws on banners with good 4* focuses if they made those better. Only real concern I feel would be overshooting, but hell the fix I suggested wouldn't even make it easier for people to get 5*s by a significant amount so I feel like it probably wouldn't be

They could stand to make other friendly changes. Hell if SR or SSR rates were higher people might actuall spend more since they'd have better chances of getting them. Dokkan made huge improvements to their gacha system by increasing SSR rates to 10% and making it SR or higher guaranteed with lots of new banners being SSR guaranteed an unlimited number of times. It's been pretty great and the featured cards still have low rates so Bamco still makes tons of money. They're likely making tons right now just on the LR Goku Black banner since one guy is spending until he pulls it on YouTube and another pulled it 5 times which likely means he spent thousands of dollars unless he somehow got super lucky.

Upping 4* rates is the way to go. 5* rates are very risky because yeah, you're gonna hamstring whale spending because they'll pull what they want sooner.

Moving some odds from CEs onto Servants could be good. I'm thinking something like:

5*: 2% Servant, 3% CE
4*: 5% Servant, 10% CE

I know the concern is always whales would spend less with an increased rate, but has the 3% rate hurt the revenue for FE Heroes or Brave Exvius at all?

I'm going to guess that things like the 3% rate increase and step-up stuff for multisummons has only helped the JP version of BE. And of course, Dokkan Battle regularly has at least 10% rates for SSRs and usually tops the sales charts when new characters come out.

Unrelated note: I've been watching Fate/Apocrypha as the episodes come out, and good lord is Jeanne dull as hell. Sieg is mostly bad but he's kinda been improving, but Jeanne is still as bland as when she first showed up.

In retrospect I'm amazed they made her moderately compelling in the Orleans chapter. Helps having Marie being a great supporting character and Jeanne Alter being a better foil than Amakusa's lame ass.

Been Ascending more Servants I don't give two shits about.

Read this topic and had a cool thought for a mathematical model to help quantify if FGO should be more generous here.

I think I can basically guess what the current revenue distribution of FGO is by doing a really ghetto curve fit of a generalized pareto distribution by looking at the download anniversaries against, let's say, news stories of some idiot stealing a credit card and spending like 10k on trying to NP5 someone. Then, use updated rates (like 3%) see how much money the guy would have spent instead in the world with the increased rate, use that rederive the parameters fro the distribution and see if the revenue is higher or not.

This would only work assuming that everyone only cared about 5* banner rate ups, but I bet I can partially see if the 4* rate up thing would help by... dunno, assuming there's some linear combination of 4* mongers and 5* mongers and seeing how changing the relative weights would affect total revenue.

Can't wait until Okita event happens. I've just been farming exp and materials now though I did just unlock 2 more interludes to do (Asterios and Phantom of the Opera)

Phantom's interlude is oddly good? Super short, but actually fun.

Halloween was actually up on time, but I was up late when Okeanos came out and that maintenance was extended. Made me sad.
