New polling indicates that a majority of American voters believe President Donald Trump is dishonest, reckless and untrustworthy.

On Oct. 25, a Politico/Morning Consult survey found that 42 percent of registered voters approved of Trump job performance while 53 percent disapproved. The polling data reflected a negative public perception of the president's personal character, Politico reports.

50 percent of voters said Trump was not a strong leader while 56 percent said he was a reckless commander in chief. 33 percent said he was stable while 54 viewed him as unstable.

50 percent of respondents said Trump was sexist while 45 percent described him as racist. Only 34 percent believed that he cared about people like themselves.

The survey also indicated that a majority of voters did not trust Trump to tell the truth. 53 percent of respondents said that the president was not trustworthy while 51 percent said he was not honest.

On Oct. 24, GOP Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee took to Twitter to criticize recent remarks made by Trump on social media, characterizing him as "an utterly untruthful president."

That same day, GOP Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona announced that he would retire from the Senate in 2018 and, after establishing that he was no longer concerned with reelection, blasted Trump on the Senate floor

"We must never meekly accept the daily sundering of our country -- the personal attacks, the threats against principles, freedoms, and institutions, the flagrant disregard for truth or decency, the reckless provocations, most often for the pettiest and most personal reasons, reasons having nothing whatsoever to do with the fortunes of the people that we have all been elected to serve," Flake said.

The Arizona Senator called on his GOP colleagues to also speak out against Trump's conduct in office.

The latest survey indicated that Trump remains popular among the Republican voter base. 77 percent of GOP respondents approved of Trump's job performance while only 33 percent believed he was reckless with his powers.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning PolitiFact keeps a scorecard on public statements made by Trump since he entered the political arena. As of Oct. 25, the fact-checking website found that only 17 percent of Trump's statements were true or mostly true, 15 percent could be half true and that 69 percent of his statements were either mostly false, patently false or a knowing lie.

RealClearPolitics, after aggregating the eight national surveys released between Oct. 10 and Oct. 24, found that Trump had an average approval rating of 39 percent and an average disapproval of 56 percent.

Even though we all know Trump lies as often as he breathes, his base will still slobber over everything he says and treat him as a god. It sickens me.
