Surely this isn't the whole game? I got my ass beat in Typhoid cave or whatever it's called so now I'm doing all of the Colony 9 "kill 3 of this and that" bullshit

Also, when you get new armor can you see it on your characters?

Pretty much every quest is a fetch quest. You end up pretty overleveled if you do them all though, so I'd say to just do some until you get bored then move on with the story. The story and characters are the best part.

because I got stuck on a boss and just rage quite. also the dungeons and map got super complicated as fuck

I thought about doing all the side quests but so many are unrewarding and they are mostly the same crap over and over. The only good things are to go talk to people to get monster quests and kill those while you do stuff. I like killing all of the unique monsters as well.

Ok I'll try the cave again now that I'm lvl 8. Am I supposed to run past a lot of enemies or am I expected to clear dungeons of monsters?

Also how does FF9 compare to Xenoblade Chronicles?

It took me a while to get used to the gameplay/controls and I kept dying in the cave area. Once you level up a few times and get used to combat it becomes easier.

The number of sidequests is annoying. By no means should you feel obligated to do them.

I played it for the first time a few months ago. It was an amazing game, but does take a few hours to get going.

You can do either, but the problem with running past stuff is that it could be aggro and you end up running into a corner. You have to be able to run a good distance to lose them.

you might have to grind or figure out a different strategy or figure out what gems will work

I don't remember the map being that confusing in there honestly but I loved that part of the game
