Dishonored 2, prey, evil within, etc. They all sold below expectation.

Which is shame because those games, especially arkane games are damn good, and while zenimax got their own of shitty moves like paid mods, all of their other games dont contaon shitty DLC practice or microtransactions or lootboxes.

The healthy AAA industry practice are doomed to fail :'(

People suck so much

It sucks because Zenimax can't even seem to see that they're the problem.

This is probably why. I didn't even hear about the game until it released and I saw it on Steam.

I saw an IGN review for it the day it released and was, like, "It's out?"
Outside of the reveal trailer, I didn't see or hear anything else about the game up until that point.

Dishonored 2 (and DTTO) were both pretty good. Shame they're not pulling in gangbuster sales.

Yeah, dishonored 2, while still pretty streamlined compared to the games it tried to pay homage to, ot still feel like the developer trust the player to handle their own things (like it is actually manageable to turn off quest marker and the game offer you lots of environmental clues to direct you to your objectives plus sharp level design open enouhg to have you experiment and mess up and discover stuff on your own) instead of thinking players are drooling idiots that have 10 seconds attention span like a bird conditioned to peck at button so the machine dispense treat every certain interval of pecks, which is the common philosophy of most games design nowadays in AAA shit industry.

Dishonored 2 kind of suffered of being more or less the same as the first game. And IIRC while Dishonored sold very well, it was still on the low end compared to other AAA titles.

I mean, yeah the story, powers, etc ended pretty much samey, but the level design and atmosphere are incredible. D1 suffered from last gen console limitation imo, makes the level kinda small and divided by loading screens.

Dishonored 2 took advantage of better hardware. The map are usually one big continuous space, more populated and feel pretty massive and authentic.

Yeah they need to abandon single player games and do pointless multiplayer loot quests if they want to make money in today's video game market. It's a real shame.

Yeah. Basically the real money is either for ADHD children, or stream bait multiplayer generation.

Shit sucks.

No, you'll have to pay to unlock perk trees and schools of magic.

microtransactions are completely optional, you can just finish the game at level 1, there's no need to level up

I believe if Dishonored 1 never existed and Dishonored 2 was released it would be a blockbuster. Unfortunately D1 didn't endear itself to fans and D2 was not differentiating enough to garner a hype train. It's what I expected tbqh.

Prey is following on the back of Doom and, I feel, the market wasn't there for that style of FPS singleplayer game again. Wolfenstein, in its over-the-top alt history and violence (Plus current events involving certain neo-nazis) will probably scratch an itch and hit big in contrast.

EW2 wasn't marketed enough, which is unfortunate. Fantastic game.

They should focus all effort into a next-gen-powered Elder Scrolls VI

Fallout 4 didn't really do anything new and the bad dialogue and emptiness really hurt the game

What? Why? The games they publish have been great. Look at DOOM, Dishonored 1 and 2, Evil Within (not so great, but the sequel is being very well received), and of course Wolfenstein.

Prey IMO was fantastic as well, I enjoyed the hell out of it.
