I saw! I'm cautiously optimistic. The leak reads like someone trying to get fans riled up by mentioning how all the previous characters/actors/developers are returning but a lot of leaks these days end up as true so I'm hoping for the best.

Getting excited for Xenoblade on Friday. Need to try and get through Horizon this week. I've cooled off on that game a lot since I started it. There's no huge glaring issues I have with it, but there's a lot of little nitpicky things that add up and make me unsure of how much I'm actually enjoying the game.

i just got to the first oh shit moment in horizon and i'm looking forward to playing more of it! granted i'm only 4 and a half hours in but yeah, it's cool so far. grabbing me way faster than ac: origins that's for sure.

also, i don't know if it was the case from the beginning but its photo mode is also pretty good!

Hitman is an incredible game.

It puts my attempt, where I wandered around for 14 minutes before chancing upon the target, followed him to a room, and shot him and his bodyguard dead, to shame.

Animal Crossing mobile isn't very good. It barely feels like an entry in the series. Being in a camp isn't as fun as being in a village with your own house. I have no real desire to collect furniture or decorate because space is so cramped and because being able to craft all the furniture is way less fun than slowly accumulating it through unique purchases and trades. The main gameplay loop revolves around picking up a bunch of random crap to give to people so they'll be friends with you, then using your quest rewards to craft furniture to appeal to the ungrateful ingrates. Why? So they'll visit your camp. Which doesn't really do anything!

The update to Fire Emblem was really good though, been enjoying that quite a bit.

And yeah, Pocket Camp isn't great. That's a 4th miss on Nintendo's mobile stuff for me. I guess Fire Emblem is doing well for them, but that didn't get me to stick at all. I do wonder if Pocket Camp will have longevity with the general public or it'll go the way of Miitomo.

seems like I hit a glitch with one of the quests in Horizon. someone Im supposed to talk to isnt spawning. its a sidequest tied to a trophy so if I cant fix it and it locks me out of the platinum I will be very mad!!

XB2 reviews are out. at a quick glance, it looks like this game won't convince people who weren't crazy about the previous Xenoblade games but should be great for previous fans of the series.

Comments about the performance not being great are disappointing, but I guess the first game kinda had those issues too.

The blade lottery thing might really turn me off though.

Meanwhile, Parish is over here saying this is better than 'gears.

I've always wondered if Xenoblade is diminishing returns. how many amazing organic worlds on dead gods can really resonate? I hope they do something a little different for the next game despite really liking the Xenoblade formula.

that's about where I landed. there were times where it seemed like it had something interesting to say about its failed technocratic world before dashing away from that moment of insight. the world was pretty yet barren. it's not-quite-monster hunter mechanics never really came together except in the optional dungeons, where altered versions of rare monsters proved challenging and fun to fight. hugely disappointing game.

I thought the combat sucked, honestly. It was fine if you stayed stealthed, but once you were spotted I found it extremely frustrating, even with all the options available. The melee is next to worthless and things get too hectic for ranged combat to feel enjoyable.

oh i think the melee is designed to be just for you to get a potshot in and push away medium to small enemy machines that get too close. it's really all about the myriad of ranged options and the traps for the big machines. removing components and exploiting weaknesses are super satisfying, especially with how the effects look amazing, whether it's the sprouting flames turning into fiery explosions or the crackle of electricity from a power cell detonating into a lightning storm that paralyzes everything nearby.

also corruption arrows are great and it's always fun seeing the big monsters fight each other.
