Can someone just tell me if its genuinely surprising enough that it should be avoided? Ive ducked out of a couple topics to dodge them but it seems weird that a Mario game has legit spoilers.

Apparently one world has a ton of Mario 64 references but I avoided seeing which one because I wanted it to be a surprise.

I've had a few spoiled because I'm not going out of my way to avoid them, and based on that it's not really anything to get upset over. You just miss out on "Oh, that's cool" moments. It's akin to stuff from previous Mario games like "you can play as Luigi in the Galaxy games," or "You get an upgraded Cat Powerup in the bonus worlds of SM3DW."
