I don't necessarily believe in Hell but the thought of spending an eternity burning is pretty insane. Endless life after death, endless pain and suffering......it.....does.....not.....compute.

Maybe it's time that I stop this life of debauchery. I really don't want to risk it.

I don't like eternity in any sense of afterlife.

Heaven would probably get boring, Hell would be awful, and an eternity of no afterlife is just way too much nothingness.

Pretty much. Then again, it would kind of suck to just disappear into nothingness when you die, no heaven or hell. I kind of like the idea of being reborn, whether it's as an animal or another human being. That's a gamble as well though because I sure as hell wouldn't want to be reborn as a worm or some shit.

That was an interesting read. My only issue with this is that won't God know that you're essentially a fake and don't really believe in him? Maybe that is irrelevant as long as you've lived a good life. So at this point in my life I'm basically going to wager that God is real (even if I truly don't) and live by high morals, this will be enough to get me through the gates of Heaven. Sounds like a done deal.

The bible actually says that when you go to hell you burn up instantly. I don't know why people say that you burn for eternity

That's true. I'd imagine that you would have no memories of your past life, you wouldn't even know that you ever existed in any form prior to that life.

I think it was Poisonwood Bible (an otherwise meh experience) that had a good explanation of eternity as given by a pastor to a bunch of kids to impart on them the notion of how long heaven or hell would last.

Essentially, if you took a bird and had it fly back and forth across the Atlantic, each time carrying a single grain of sand from a mountain on one side of the ocean to a location on the other side, by the time that bird successfully moved the entire mountain, that's the first second of eternity.

I dont think thunk its that difficult for me to wrap my mind around. Like right now im 27 and in the prime of my life, so I dont feel physically older than I was 4 years ago, and if I keep up the healthy lifestyle Ive been living I probably wont notice a difference 4 years from today. However I am far wiser than I was 4 years ago, and I imagine I will grow much wiser over the next 4 years. But being sort of under the delusion that my body doesnt change actually makes it harder for me to imagine the concept of my current comfort and happiness being temporary I almost feel like I have an unlimited amount of time to be young, stay happy, and grow wiser. So for me eternity doesnt feel like a far-fetched concept as it seems to be for some.
