Transition regret?
I think it is a pretty complex issue with alot of people involved. 1. Pro trans community are selling it as THE miracle cure for every one of their problems. While it may be a cure for body dismorphia, which can cause depression, this isnt the case for all. Sometimes the roots of the problem is something else and gender dysrophia is the effect and transitioning wont cure it all. Doesnt help too the rigorous psychological counseling before the process arent quite so rigorous nowaday (from what i heard) 2. The intolerant side makes it harder for trans to be actually fitting in to society. They suffer alot of prejudices and innaceptance of trans people, it just add problem to their alreadt troubled mental healths. I think what we need is really moderation. An open minded and accepting community or even society, at the same time critical to the whole proccess so it is sure that only people that really need it can start the proccess. suicide rate? sure. it's too damn high, though it seems to be getting a lot better as we move toward better public acceptance as well as better HRT and GRS options.
regret? why? the detransition rate is essentially 0. I do, honestly, feel bad for the few people who aren't trans but transitioned anyway. and I do, honestly, hope they can make the best of their lives from here. but they should be a cautionary tale, not a roadblock. anyone who is honest with themselves, and with their doctors is not going to get far enough to be unable to say "wait, this isn't right." --- Boom!
