Crazy Rich Asians, an exclusively ALL ASIAN cast for a big screen adaptation directed by Jon M Chu will soon hit theatres as it's based off of a popular book by Kevin Kwan as he hopes the movie plays well in America..The movie is about a son of a Singaporean near royalty and is the boyfriend of a protagonist named Rachel

But the movie isn't getting all the praise..especially from asian actors who were outraged that they cast a relative newcomer who is HALF White and HALF Asian as people believed the actor should have been FULL ASIAN!!

The man who won the lead role is newcomer Henry Golding who is half british and half sinaporean/malaysian..

This is a rare movie when the leading role is of Asian Descent as director Jon Chu said he needed to find an asian actor with the right charisma and charm to lead the role and believed that was Henry...

Asians around the world however are not very happy as one actress, Jamie Chung who has been adamantly opposed to the casating choice as she called the mixed-race casting "BULLS***" before walking back on it and state "it goes both ways. It's just frustrating to lose a job or not have a at it because of your race. If the role is casting for asian actor, you want to hire an asian actor, not someone who is white. It makes no sense"

Jamie has been a vocal supporter of progressivism and has slammed some casting choices, such as Ed Skrein in Hellboy who thankfully dropped out which lead Daniel Dae Kim to take over the role.

But Henry is DEFENDING the casting and said it was hurtful who said "For me, it was almost like being kind of stabbed in the back. I was like, aren't we all meant to be in this boat together? Aren't we meant to strive together for something bigger than these boundaries that we're putting on ourselves instead of bullying each other?. People were like, this guy's half asian, he's half white, he's not full asian, and it comes to like, how Asian do you have to be considered Asian? I've lived 16-17 years of my life in Asia and that's most of my life i was born in Asia"

Crazy Rich Asians starring Henry and Fresh Off The Boat's Constance Wu comes out next year in August.

How? She's always been straightforward about it being the place where she started. Very few people from that show have been able to use it as a springboard to bigger and better things and Jamie is often regarded as the most successful of the Real World cast members.
