Enough gaming for MONTHS with those three alone. Plus other fun games like MK8, Rabbids etc

Splatoon 2 really is a fun team shooter if you're in to that kind of thing. Mario Kart is as always the de-facto kart racer if you like that genre. Pokken Tournament is also a shockingly competent fighter for a license tie-in. Outside of that, there's the new Xenoblade Chronicles coming out soon.

There are some also pretty good indie games out (wonderboy, has-been heroes, binding of isaac, cave story, etc that aren't exclusives but work well on the handheld, along with some non-exclusives (Disgaea 5, Xenoverse 2, etc) that play just fine and work well when you want to take the console on the go.

well the game is incredible but the roster is horse shit.

There is extensive discussion about it over at the game board, but here are the cliffs.

1. Only base lance users are 3 pegasus knights with clone move sets
2. Only dragonstone user is Tiki
3. No beaststone users
4. waaaaaaaaaaaay too many sword characters, several characters clones of each other
5. No playable armor units, only horse / foot / flier
6. No playable villains, probably won't be any either

But lets talk more about good shit.

Historical Mode is fantastic and puts the Hyrule Adventure mode to shame
Game is fun as fuck
AI is actually competent. You can order AI to do things from the tactical menu. If you send an Axe user to go kill a spear user they will actually win. You can also order the non playable characters, but just can't take control of them directly.
You can also use the tactical command to take control of any playable characters.
You can pair up just like the RPG. You can pair up playable characters with playable characters and swap between the two in real time, or pair up playable characters with non playable ones just for the assist bonus.
You generally get 4 playable characters and 4 non playable ones per map (some maps will have less, 4 and 4 is the max)
Harder modes are actually hard

Aha, well if you're open to multi-play stuff

PuyoPuyo Tetris is a great, great game to have on the go since it features both PuyoPuyo and Tetris (obviously lol). As long as you don't mind super cutesy animu stuff or aren't much of a puzzle fan, that game's totally worth it.

Additionally if you like puzzle games, they recently released a Picross game on Switch, if you're a fan of those games.

As people mentioned, Sonic Mania is fantastic, and feels really good on Switch in handheld mode. I played through the whole game and never ran into any bugs. Regardless, I read they patched it recently, so I feel like if there were any, they're gone now.

Bomberman actually is an exclusive, but YMMV with this game. If you ever liked Bomberman games in the past, definitely get this one. Alternately, if you ever plan on playing Switch with other people, this is still worth it for the multiplayer alone (and also cuz you get to play as wacky characters like Simon Belmont and Pyramid Head and shit)

The Jackbox Party Pack games are available on other consoles, but they're PERFECT on Switch because of the portability factor. That said, again, they're only really worth it if you plan to play with friends. If you're not familiar, they're basically compilations of games that play out like zany adult board games, but you all connect to the server and play using your phones which you use for typing/drawing/etc.

As mentioned there's a ton of indie games that all lend themselves well to being portable. The Shovel Knight pack particularly is awesome in handheld, feels like you're playing a giant GBA.
Stardew Valley has a multiplayer mode exclusive to Switch I believe.
Blaster Master Zero is an awesome bang for your buck if you ever played the original NES game.
Yooka Laylee is coming to Switch early next year I think, which is another case of a multiplat game just feeling right on a Nintendo console.
Golf Story is another great retro-style game that feels pretty much like a SNES game would if you brought them to 2017. You'll still like it even if you don't even really like golf, since it plays more like an RPG/life-sim game than a golf game.

NBA Playgrounds is a fun throwback to NBA Jam if you're into sports stuff. And also if you buy that game, I think you get to download Shaq Fu for free when it eventually releases.

There's a shit ton of Neo-Geo arcade VC games if you like them at all. Nintendo also intends to start porting their own arcade games soon, and already started with arcade Mario Bros. They're gonna put more stuff on there like original arcade versions of Punch Out and Super Mario VS (which AFAIK is completely different from the original SMB).

You also got Ultra Street Fighter II, if you really love Street Fighter. The price tag is kinda steep, but it really is the ultimate version of that game.
Also if you liked Pokken at all, you can play the deluxe version on Switch as well. I think it has some new characters and stuff that weren't in the Wii U version, though they were in the arcade I think? Either way, hey, it's Pokemon.

Regarding last-gen ports you could get portable... Skyrim, LA Noire, Batman Telltale... Uhhh, oh and they're current-gen, but also DOOM, Rocket League, and Wolfenstein II are coming as well.

Also as other people said, you got a bunch of other games releasing in the next 6 months like Xenoblade if you like giant JRPGs, Yoshi and Kirby if you want more Nintendo platforming charm. Pokemon, Metroid Prime 4, and Project Octopath are all on the way too.

This is the only one I disagree with. I expect a deluxe version to be announced for Switch around the time we get a confirmed launch of the paid online service. What better way to get us to pay for a service we used to get for free than Smash?

I think we'll get a deluxe Wii U Smash next year, and true sequel down the line towards the end of the Switch's life cycle.

Reggie has said they will continue in the future. I think it's one of those things they'll slot in as necessary when they have a lull in their release sched (a la Pokken) or if a major title gets delayed.

splatoon 2 is the only reason i even bought the system, i have botw but i can't be bothered to play that shit atm. lol
