There are a million 80s movies everyone remembers, and a bunch of 90s movies. I can even think of a few 2000s ones.

Wait, if casting a black man and a woman in lead roles makes more money...then why is that a BAD thing? Like, if diversity makes more money, why should they NOT do that just to avoid triggering people like you and your right-wing political correctness?

Guys, be fair. Star Wars did really shove diversity down our throats

Surely you remember the part where Finn becomes the greatest Jedi in the universe, causing Han Solo to recite a dramatic speech about white guilt, and how he knows being an inferior white man is truly what kept him from being a Jedi himself (implying Luke is a quarter black in the process). Chewie then informs Han that there aren't enough women in the Millennium Falcon and Rey comes and literally takes Han's job with her qualification of boobs. Han is then left a broken, unfairly treated man, who spends his time complaining about being held down on the internet.

Or when they released the Special Editions of the original trilogy, and it turned out George Lucas had added completely unnecessary token characters like "Princess Leia" and "Lando Calrissian" just to tick some boxes.

Inception
The Avengers
Mad Max: Fury Road
Black Swan
Whiplash
Guardians of the Galaxy
Inside Out
Logan
Edge of Tomorrow
Blade Runner 2049
It Follows
Ex Machina
The Cabin in the Woods
You're Next
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Arrival
Nightcrawler

Some more sci-fi films could definitely appear here too.

I will admit it's slightly difficult to gauge in the sense of who is remembering them. People who exclusively watch comic adaptations will definitely champion them.

However, for those who watch a more diverse array, those films get lost very quickly and singular efforts like Fury Road and Social Network for instance resonate much more

Even in that backpedal, it doesn't answer my question as to how diversity is bad if it makes the company more money. And the response is bizarre. In a film with a female lead, a Hispanic leading man, and a guy who's like a Mongolian berserker, somehow Donnie Yen's blind monk is diversity gone too far?

just to play devil's advocate how could you possibly know if it's making them more money or not? it's not as if they released a non-diversity version at the same time that you could compare the numbers to.
