I'm guessing that means the game is subversive like Undertale or Pony Island. Right now I'm looking at the store page for OneShot on Steam. The game's description, the actual sales pitch from the developer, has the following bullet points:

Gameplay mechanics that go beyond the game window.
A unique relationship between a game and its player.
A lingering feeling that you're not getting the full story unless you know where to look.

So already I know from the description that it's going to write files, pop up an overlay, read my Windows user name, or some other thing of that nature. It's not hard to do that. It's actually a lot easier than much of the other programming one would do for a video game. People are impressed when a video game is "meta" that they forget that the game is making the same boring API calls that business applications have been using for decades.

Anyway, the user reviews are "Overwhelmingly Positive", so I pretty much have to try it. I'll let you know if the game is as pretentious as it sounds.

Going in "blind" is usually the best way to play any game.

It's also a gamble, and a problem that game reviews exist to solve.

So what if it's a gamble it's still the best way to go.

Not if they spoil the game's plot.

Or you could just wait to heard the word of mouth that game is really good from multiple friends/people and then buy it and go in blind without knowing anything.

The game should have merits aside from the spoilery parts of its plot, otherwise it's just an overblown tech demo for a particular storytelling device.

Do you think I would make topics like these if I had friends?

Why are you assuming tech shit is the only thing this applies to?

What? Are we discussing two different topics here?
