It's the Trump administration. Literally everything they do is the most ridiculous thing. Like, I'm pretty sure they just sit in meetings every time they have to take an action and ask "How can we fuck this up the absolute most?"

Yeah, and the jury passed a guilty verdict and said they did so because of her outburst about being wrongfully detained...WHEN SHE WAS WRONGFULLY DETAINED!!

I think the judge threw it out because they didn't convict based on the reason she was charged, which is still fucking dumb, but at least it was dropped.

The prosecutor literally argued that it was basically assault to laugh at someone...lol. Like wtf.

Look, I somewhat agree with this. The shit they were doing to Obama was ridiculous, once he was interrupted and called a liar in the middle of addressing congress or some shit--and me and my father had a long conversation about how every president in the past 30-40 years has been respected less and less.

But in this case she wasn't overly disruptive...she just chortled at a comment made, and the wrong person saw her doing it and decided to arrest her.

They should have asked her to leave if anything, and pursued charges on her for something like contempt of court, etc...but they literally charged her with laughing. No matter who you are, or who you are laughing at, that is not a crime, nor is it a crime to point out you're being unlawfully detained, and then be charged with resisting an unlawful arrest.

This lady has been through a ridiculous amount of shit over this for the last 10 months. Not to mention how much money she probably lost trying to fight this, coupled with the fact that her name is plastered all over headlines--her reputation may be ruined now and she was found not guilty.

Our penal system is so broken. If we could at least fix that, then many problems would self resolve or fall into place following.
