You said it yourself, you prefer money over your civic duties. Sadly, most people are like you.

They need to choose people that don't work and browse gamefaqs all day. I work and have bills to to pay. Some of the jobless people on here have all fucking day to decide whether that suspect was a rapist or killer.

I don't think they can fire you but I also don't think they are obligated legally to pay you :\

to interview and make appointments to find jobs. Unless you're the only heart surgeon in town, your job isn't more important than jury duty and isn't more important than other people's day to day lives.

To get out of it though you have to act more than blatantly biased. It's obvious to the judge and lawyers who is faking it.

Good employers will pay up to like 5 days of duty. Cheap companies are mad they can't legally fire you

When I have jury duty my job pays me and jury duty pays me, never had an issue with serving cause my job is not going to fuck me over for it.

Just tell them you believe it's "guilty until proven innocent" or "better safe than sorry, lock 'em all up!"

Just be insincere and try to get your way out of it by clearly answering badly to the lawyers. Act like a complete dick. It's kind of embarrassing if it's out of character, but seriously, nobody cares - they won't want you on the jury and that's it. Nothing's gonna happen to you because you were a total jag-off to some lawyers questioning you about whether you'd be a good fit for a jury.
