I'm not whining about it. I'm just pointing out a flaw in the game that that people who actually play the game in the first place constantly whine about

If they dont want people using Torb on offense then he shouldnt be selectable on offense.

If youre playing competitive mode why are you playing with randoms on your team?

Thats like doing a mythic raid in WoW with a full pug and complaining that a player is doing shitty damage. They wouldnt get banned for that.

While I agree that the skill floor for the game is low and it makes little sense to "one trick," it's not mine or anyone else's business to dictate how others play.

Developer intent only means so much. No other dev stops you from playing their game because you're not playing as "intended." Many mechanics they use in their game have history in unintended gameplay such as rocket/explosive jumping.

This is a flaw with Overwatch, but Paladins did a lot to mitigate it. And it's nearly nonexistent in Team Fortress 2.

If Blizzard paid their developers more than $20k a year, they would develop a system where you queue for Roadhog (or whatever hero you want), be put in a skirmish, and whenever a team needs a tank, you get taken to that group. Nobody wants to come home from a long day of work, let out some aggression by playing Roadhog (or whoever) and be forced to play a healer (most likely Mercy). Now you get banned if you don't. Awful direction and decision making by Blizzard. But as I said, only being paid $20k a year.

I fucking suck at all of the healers.

That's literally the dumbest fucking thing ever.

For one, it is IMPOSSIBLE for your one, single pick to 'fuck over the entire team', unless someone else's pick is also fucking over the entire time.

ONE PERSON can never be responsible for the team's composition being bad. If this guy was Tborn, then any other player could've swapped out of that role into something else to fix the composition, but none of them would either.

Placing blame on a single player for a team malfunction is stupid.

So the Overwatch mods are literally just randomly taking sides based on their prejudice and bias.

Furthermore, there's this little thing called "MMR" that regulates bad or uncooperative players by putting them in a lower skill bracket.

Technically true but one single person can still pick a significantly bad hero for the situation and other people can't necessarily cover for it enough. Also it's pretty shitty to do this in comp modes instead of playing to win.

On the flipside though certain heroes have been in the dumpster forever and Blizzard doesn't seem to care so maybe they should put some work into fixing their own shit before telling other people they can't do certain things.

The guy mentions that blizzard has "defined the meta" already, but it's a stretch from the original point. Heroes like 76, Mercy, and Lucio are so versatile that they're usually a necessity. Out of 30 playable characters in 95% of all games you'll see at least one of those 3.

Paladins didn't do much to mitigate it. It still has the problem of demanding meta team compositions, the game just demands a little bit more skill out of people so it's like 2% less awful

It's nonexistent in TFC/FF because teams are bigger and classes are more generic (attacker/defender)

Team Fortress 2 is the one who started all this BS by making the medic a mandatory healer (actively healing IN action) rather than a true medic (healing AFTER action)

desrowfighting one tricks Torb and hes top 500.

It shouldnt matter what someone plays as long as theyre at least trying.

People will just que up as whatever has the shortest que time...then just pick what they want.

People do that shit all the time in WoW. Que up as a tank or healer...then just DPS.

Having meta team comp in the first place isn't the problem. Any game with diversity will develop a meta.

The problem is that the meta is held in such high regard by the playerbase that devs will bend over backwards to protect it/them.

Paladins doesn't ban players for playing off meta. It forces flexible gameplay through the pick/ban system in comp. Meaning you wont always get to play the character you want since someone else could pick it or ban it.

TF2 doesn't ban players for not playing medic. Most classes are independent enough that medics aren't 100% necessary.

I don't think a lot of people ITT know that the only game mode where these types of rules apply is competitive, where the whole point is playing to win. Rules like this don't exist in any other game mode (quick play, arcade, custom games). They need to enforce cooperative play and playing to win in competitive or else it would defeat the purpose of competitive.
