Most games are under ten bucks and thousands of games were released. All the 2D consoles with cartridges are priced way too high. Used to hardcore collect Sega Genesis games but those prices got too damn high and anything Nintendo is worse for prices.

And its nice buying a game for 4 dollars and it lasts 10 hours while most NES games are 20+ and last 45 minutes.

Nope. Xbox or GameCube have better arguments if you take your nostalgia out of it.

Your only real argument for PS2 is quantity.

Now if you talk PS1, Ill hear you out.

Some cartridges are priced on eBay for hundreds of dollars. Little Samson on NES is often on eBay for the same price as a cheap used car. Neo Geo AES games are even worse. And Mario Duck Hunt isnt worth 25 bucks. Its a fantastic game but even 7 years ago that game was max 10 bucks. A game that came for free with your damn system. Hell I remember when Intellivision consoles were 10 bucks, now people want close to 200 for them if they have a few games with it.

Neo Geo games were always expensive. During it's life, new games could go for a few hundred bucks depending

Xbox is pretty fairly priced to collect for. GameCube for some games are getting too high. Im also in a PAL country so NTSC prices are pretty cheap for GameCube but here most half decent games are around 20. GameCube was my favourite console back in that gen. Played that system almost exclusively so thankfully I got about 70% of the must have Cube games when they first came out.

For sure, even if I had the money, I wouldn't spend that kind of money. But I do understand how on the collector market how they can fetch tons of cash depending on condition and rarity.

I agree as far as collecting them to play in another way that allows you to have them running at higher res/fps which can make a lot of old games look great and worth playing again. At their original res they haven't aged well enough to make it worth the effort of finding them...

Yeah I think so too, especially given the fact that with PS1 and PS2 games combined you have massive, and solid library full of classics and hidden gems.

I've been collecting myself recently. Just finished my Arc the Lad collection.
