Just here to join the chorus of saying that I had low expectations for AA6, and it absolutely blew those expectations out of the water, it's worth playing. I think it's better than AA5.

I am interested to see what they do with AA7 though. They've probably got the most flexibility with what they can do that they've had since Phoenix came back, so I hope they do something crazy with it. There are so many things I could see them doing.

Phoenix the lead of AA7? They're too scared to let someone else be the main character after what happened with AA4.

AA6 spoilers: This does put a dimmer on my hope of AA7 being Apollo's adventures as a startup lawyer in Khura'in though. I would really love to see that story

Yeah, it would've been cool. Send Trucy away for college overseas (since she'll be 18 in AA7) and have more Apollo/Trucy adventures!

The only problem is that it'd probably mean more Nahyuta

Well, yeah. All I'm saying is that it's not guaranteed that Phoenix will be the lead. Athena could be, for all we know.

Well, even in the case of AA6, Phoenix's name was in the title, but Apollo took the lead at the end and finished the job. I imagine they want to keep Phoenix's name in the title to help sales, but they showed a willingness to let him step aside during the epic case and let Apollo get all the glory.

Well, again, Nintendo's already said they were going to have a Switch Mini be the 3DS successor if the Switch is successful...which it obviously is.

i don't think it makes sense to do khura'in for aa7

i'd ideally like a fresher start, or a real return to the original roots - the latter feels impossible at this point (layton v wright felt off) and the former seems pretty unlikely

but i'll almost certainly play it no matter what and enjoy discussing it to death!

I was thinking about that the other day. nothing on a season 2?

Disc sales for the first anime in Japan were quite low. If they do want to do a season 2 anyways, they would likely do it as part of a campaign to hype up a new Ace Attorney game rather than just a standalone anime.

we maybe need to resurrect our old topic, but I think you have to go back to khurain after the way aa6 ended. you can't just cut that one off clean.

edit: I guess I think of Apollo as being kind of like Edgeworth now. you bring him back for the big case.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if that's the last of Apollo, but I think keeping three attorneys around all the time was kind of untenable and he was the easiest one to let go of since Athena's clearly not ready to be on her own. There's just not enough screentime for all of them without someone getting tossed to the wayside in the process. Apollo got the shaft in AA5 a lot of the time, and Athena got it in AA6.

I'm pretty sure we'll go back to Khura'in at some point, or at the very least, we'll see some of the characters from over there again. I feel confident we'll see Rayfa again if nothing else. Maybe Nahyuta, but I could live without him. Maybe they could do a standalone Apollo case and just have it be its own thing, kinda like 6-4 was (but hopefully better).

Remember that someone in this topic has already said they haven't played AA6, so watch it.

Anyway, what they should do is Have the DLC case be in Khura'in - that way you can dodge the usual timeline iffiness with DLC cases, since now you have two different places to go

Nah, they wouldn't be trying to play a nostalgia card so it wouldn't be as awkward. Also there's a lot of fun stuff they could do in Khura'in whereas they just didn't even try to make 6-6 interesting

I'll still defend 6-6 as a case that holds up better on replay once you know what you're getting into with it.

*shrug*

I got out of it what I wanted. I thought they would try to go bigger with it than they did, so that disappointed me the first time through, but knowing it was really simple just let me enjoy Phoenix/Maya/Edgeworth being together again. I know tran thinks it's a waste to use Edgeworth on a throwaway case like this, but eh, I don't care about that.

there's one breakdown that is absolutely amazing.

Blur, just get the trilogy on 3DS. that'll be just as good and probably a lot cheaper.

But I need an excuse to play my Switch more post-Odyssey! And pre...whatever big first-party Nintendo title is next.

On the other hand, I think PW uses the touch screen extensively? Yeah, that seems like it would be more natural on the 3DS and with a stylus.

The first three don't ever require you to use the touch screen. They were originally GBA games, after all. Even the ones designed for the DS rarely force you to use it. Just dumb stuff with Ema most of the time.

Well, the GBA versions were never released Stateside. The DS versions have touch screen functionality and I tend to use it because I think it's a little quicker than tapping the buttons, but you don't have to use it.
