It's kinda weird that it doesn't have people transforming into the giant creatures but... it kinda looks alright. I don't really remember the plot of those games but is there any chance they become the good guys or are they gonna kill 'em at the end?

'Cause a fighting force with giant monsters could be kinda cool.

Man, The Rock is the new Samuel L. Jackson. He's in everything.

Yeah... but like a PG/PG-13 version to Jackson's PG-13/R. I do still like The Rock though... he's a fun actor to watch (So is Samuel L Jackson but that should go without saying).

I think it was just a generic giant lizard thing (since it was a lady to start with and not an animal). I feel like a crocodile is a good base for a dangerous large lizard.

Also it looks like the Lizzie and Ralph change a bit more than George does... he kinda just gets bigger.

Oh, for a second I was scared they wouldn't also have Lizzie. Happy for that ending.

Granted, the fact that it's not actually people transforming is a bit disappointing but I guess it gets over the whole cannibalism issues and makes their animal behaviors more excusable.

I lost all interest in this movie the minute I knew they were taking it too seriously and again, the biggest mistake of a monster movie, focusing on the humans.

This movie should have shit like Ralph eating a literal brewery and throwing up on a bunch of cars and people.

It should be a comedy movie about three normal people who chronically fall unconscious and turn into giant monsters. And then after awhile they feel themselves getting weaker and the monster instinctively goes to hide. When they transform back, they're butt naked. Eventually this would happen while they're surrounded at gunpoint by the military/police.

Stuff like that.

Also, I got Ralph mixed up with George, but either would work.

He's gotta squeeze as much money out of hollywood while he still can. People are starting to notice that Dave Bautista is a much better actor than him and they fill the same niche.

You know, I absolutely agree. Also the biggest thing I hated about the Transformers films, since 80% of the stuff seemed to focus on a handful of annoying humans I didn't care about.

Which actually sounds like a great idea... and is probably why they didn't go that route.

In general, when I heard the concept, my general expectation was that the three monsters would run amok, fight each other, and then finally regain their senses to fight some common foe -- either aliens or a monster featured in a later game.

Yes, it does look like just a generic (though not necessarily bad) monster movie that happens to "star" a giant ape, a giant wolf, and a giant reptile (and Lizzie didn't even look like a crocodile in the games). I would think that to be Rampage in more than name, the monsters would at least have to have started out as people.

Then again, some of the city shots did look like Rampage levels come to life. Maybe the movie will have more allusions to the games than you might think.

Yeah but when was the last time Rampage was even relevant?
I remember buying that somewhat mediocre game on Wii and that was when I realized how repetitive the gameplay was in the Rampage series. And I loved playing Rampage on N64 as a kid.
The Wii game had the Arcade ports of the Rampage 64 game and the original game though which was the reason I bought the game.

The Wii game had the Arcade ports of the Rampage 64 game and the original game though which was the reason I bought the game.

The timing is certainly bizarre and, tbh, even at its height, it's not like it was a massively popular franchise.

Frankly, if you're going to do a giant monster movie adapted from a game which prominently features people, they should have gone with Primal Rage. You'd have Blizzard as a good gorilla who would naturally work with his human followers, you'd have a *bunch* of villainous monsters with hordes of human followers, and you could play the story seriously. However, like Krow said, Rampage was *never* intended as a serious franchise.
