Because a lot of the liberal base is young and statistically don't bother to vote.

If you look at the Trump, Clinton election, Clinton not only won the popular vote by 3 million votes, but also the voter turnout for dems was considerably lower than for Obama. Not so much for Trump.

The nation as a whole really didn't like Trump, but they just didn't bother saying so.

Meanwhile older people tend to vote conservative and their turnout is much higher.

56 year old businessmen and their wives won't go "I could vote today but I kinda wanna watch Thor and then masturbate to pokemon girls and then take a nap instead"

The right are more mobile. They actually vote.

The left are more flakey. If they even vote they often throw away their vote for some bullshit party as a protest.

The right is more tribalistic. They'll vote for "one of their own" even if that person vouches for things against their best interest.

When people started to lose faith in Hillary, they stopped supporting her. When people started to lose faith in Trump (or never had any to begin with), they still voted for him because he was not a liberal.

That's basically how it seems to me at least.

As far as I can tell, the left dumps their leaders when they fail or disappoint them. The right continues to keep getting fucked voluntarily because staying together is more important.
