Knowing how big companies (especially American ones) work, probably not. It is more likely that he still works there, but they decided to give him nothing or busy work to do. Basically trying to force him to quit. That way they don't have to pay him any severance.

Big companies don't always act rationally when it comes to issues like these. He cost the company a *lot* of money in the short-time so, even if he was just following orders (ie, the Nuremberg Defense), he might still get fired.
