My last two girlfriends have been OBSESSED with Rupauls Drag Race and like, the cast and their side ventures and shit.

Their personalities are so insanely trashy and the music is so unbelievably bad. It makes Soulja Boy look like Mozart when it comes to artistic integrity.

Is this whole thing a joke im not in on? Like them and their music is such garbage that its a hilarious trainwreck and therefore entertaining so they pretend its all awesome?

I do not understand this whole phenomenon at all.

Reality tv is trash, but If you lighten up a bit and realise that not everything needs to be taken seriously you might see the appeal in the whole drag thing. It's actually a lot of fun to go to a drag show - just a bunch of people being outrageous.

What's this thing called fun and entertainment. Same reason people like wwe or robot wars. It's dumb fun. You just don't happen to like it

I do get what TC is asking. It's not like anyone thinks that this stuff is genuinely amazing. A 6ft2 tall man with hideous makeup pretending to sing a Mariah Carey song while dressed like some kind of slutty Pennywise the Clown is not attractive or seriously artistic. It's just kind of amusing and daring and people enjoy the theatre of it.

I suspect women like it so much because it breaks down gender roles and it's fun to see men do incredibly feminine stuff for fun. But I also think a lot of people really just like trainwreck reality tv.
