Names like, D'brickishaw, Barkevious D'quell Is it to unique? I'm not trying to be racist, I know a lot of black people with standard names like Chris, Stephen, Justin, Jason.

I'm a minority too, and I know we got some weird names, but most are not unique. I mean there's probably 2 Barkevious in the world.

Wtf kinda pretentious bullshit is this lmfao.

The names are unique, and weird. Like i said theres probably 2 Barkevious in the world.

Other cultures have weird names, but theyre common within the culture. Like my armenian friend "dickran". That's a weird name but it's a common armenian male name.

Having absolutely no knowledge of the cultural origins of the names in question, I can't really say that. I have a cousin named Odin, and I'd be more than willing to use a Norse name if I had a child, but I'm sure some people would find those names a big odd, so I don't really get the principle of your argument, here.

It's an especially weird argument because unless you use names from indigenous Americans, literally all American names are imports.

Asked a black friend once, he said the moms are just trying to be creative. I agree its kind of dumb (at least with the more absurd names) but its just seen as cool. I would disagree that theres sweeping historical/racial implications behind it. More like a trendy thing to do.

A lot of black parents do give their kids biblical names though if theyre religious.

How many derivations of John are there? How come Siobhan and Caiomhe aren't pronounced even close to their spelling?

Drop the word "weird" for things outside your limited frame of reference.

Black names nowadays? They exist because get this, western nations enslaved them, tore them from their culture, forced western names upon them and then after freeing them continued to punish them for their being black. In the void created between their ancestral culture (which many cannot hope to trace back to), they have adopted their own culture in America. It has grown and evolved. These names might not ever become common but they're still cultural.

So again, I implore you evaluate your biases and actually educate yourself instead of spouting off racist rhetoric. Else others come to suspect you one.

Psudeo African names are all the rage these days to try and capture something that isn't there. Just like wearing the gaudy earrings and black and orange dresses. They try to show that they are connecting with the culture of the mother land, but that's as far as it goes. The naming thing is just another part of it.

probably as stated already, it was to not use stereotypically white names

which is ironic because those names come from brown Jewish men

like David from King David

Jonathan from Prince Jonathan

both more than likely of dark complexion

maybe not black, but definitely not white

What makes a name weird?

names usually have a meaning in a language

1. named after an ancestor
2. named after a myth event or character
3. named after a word's meaning
etc

throwing random sounds together with no meaning does kinda make a name weird

like T'Variusness

explain to me what this is from and what word with a meaning it takes after

these names have actual meaning

Kal-El is the name of a fictional character that is an icon and highly recognizable

kyd is definitely a weirder one, but it obviously a bastardization of the word kid

apple is literally a fruit

Moxie is also a word with meaning [force of character, determination, or nerve.]

so you have no argument unless you can explain that these weird black names are actual words or names of ancestors, myths, etc

the difference between a weird name and not weird name is which is made up first, the name or the word

ex:
I name my kid cauliflower

this is a real thing
I didn't make it up, it existed before I named my kid

ex 2:
I name my kid cantakanourizorthon

wtf does this mean?
it is literally nonsense I came up with

Why? So what if the name is named after something that exists? If T'Variusness became the name of a fictional character, does that make the name not weird for a person anymore?

correct

if some author wrote a book with a character named T'Variusness and the parents liked the name or the character

then it is not weird at all, well it might have a degree of weirdness, but still makes sense

like the guy naming his kid Kal-El

then the kid can ask the parents why he was named this and they can say he was named after the book

otherwise the answer is "well we added a bunch of sounds together and thought it was a nice name, doesn't really mean anything"

other names are not only liked because of the sound but have actual meanings

I explained it above and a dude even said "what about all these weird white names!!" and each one had actual meaning behind them

and white people aren't the only ones who name with meaning in mind, actually black people do too

African names are real words with real meanings

https://www.babble.com/baby-names/african-names/

so that is why it is odd to find someone purposely using non-words for a name

That makes little sense to me. Mainly because I don't agree with the 3 conditions you posted. At some point any name will be considered new or unique just based on popularity of the name and those conditions gave nothing to do with it

What you use to reference someone doesn't require a meaning. I doubt whenever someone is named David, the parents are using historical or religious reasons for their choice. It sounds nice and they like how it sounds.
