Which is which in your opinion?

If you've been looking for shoes, you can tell that these shoes are always labeled in categories ranging from athletic, walking, tennis and running shoes...but honestly, a lot of these shoes all look the same to me..so if you can tell the difference between a TENNIS and a RUNNING shoe is between 2 pictures, colour me shocked!!...

The bottom is definitely the tennis shoe.

I actually don't know but the bottoms of the shoes are clearly different. I'd imagine a running shoe would be more concerned with shaping it like a human foot with the arch in the middle, but that's the guess.

Top is the running shoe. It's all in the cushioning.

shoe 2 literally says nike running

that aside, shoe 1 is clearly a tennis shoe, it's got a tread made for courts

Just to be clear, is "tennis shoe" a synonym for sneaker here, or does "tennis shoe" mean shoe designed for playing tennis?

If you meant sneaker, the sneaker is obviously the one on top because running shoes don't have those stupid air cushion things. If there are shoes designed for playing tennis, I've never encountered them...but it is worth noting the bottom one specifically says "running" on it.

They're the same thing.

The rubber soles designed for tennis shoes because they didn't mark the court up/allowed for better stopping and such were also quiet, and thus became known as "sneakers."

Interesting. I've never been led to believe that sneakers were especially good for playing tennis over other sports. And in this part of the country, literally zero people (except maybe transplants) say tennis shoes.
