The joke is that it's one of those, "really keeps you up at night" things to think about. You know, the kind of things that are generally easily googled nowadays but come spewing forth from stoner's mouths in between handfuls of Cheetos. Calvin can't stop thinking about it and it drives him insane.

One point has a bigger circle to run but moves faster. The other point has a smaller circle to run but it also moves slower. So while they move at different speeds, still complete the run in the same amount of time

The revolution is a function of radius if I remember correctly.
