Interstellar, obviously, made a black hole look pretty for the public, but I HIGHLY doubt that's a true representation. I imagine that a black hole would be, well, black. It would have a spherical shape, and you'd probably see warped space around it. Sort of like ripples in water. Maybe some light caused from radiation circling the accretion disk.

Overall, I think it would be memorizing to look at.

They're not completely invisible. You'd see the effects that they have on their environment, and possibly the curvature of space that the black hole is imposing. You may have to be relatively close, but I think you'd see it.
