I feel bad attempting to donate expired food, but I'd feel even worse throwing it out.

It's mostly dry stuff. Like vacuum sealed beef jerky (exp: Dec 16), raspberry shortbread (exp Aug 17), chocolate chip cookies (exp Apr 17), several cans of tuna (no listed expiry but I'm sure some date back to 2010).

Or should I just throw it out? I doubt factory expired crackers will cause harm. The tuna cans were stored in the appropriate conditions (no bulging or rusted cans).

So I ended up donating it to my local gym. They were running a food drive for Christmas. They accepted expired non perishables since food was going to assessed and filtered.

I saw peanut butter that expired back in 2015 so I ain't even mad.

Exactly what they do, they'll probably throw it out anyways because it doesn't meet their nutritional requirement.

fyi, canned food drives are terrible because they have to process this crap out and they could just buy in bulk.

Well, I'm sure someone existing in the whole world would accept and eat 2016 factory sealed beef jerky.

It's not like I'm donating soda, candy or chocolate. I know that stuff turns after a while.

Plus only about half my stuff was expired. So it wasn't all for naught.

It was more a once-a-year thing for Christmas. So maybe next year (assuming I'm still at this gym).
