I think in some cases it's okay, but I always try to get a legitimate copy of a game if I can. With official emulations, ports, collections and remasters being more prevalent than ever, I don't usually have to resort to illegal ROMs anyway. But personally, I feel that if it's an expensive game that the creators haven't provided another method to play, it's not a big deal to emulate it. I also think that TAS and romhacking are a good justification for emulation, since you can't do those things otherwise.
Mods will probably delete this even though I'm not asking for or providing ROMs ... Copied to Clipboard!

If it is no longer being officially made or marketed, then there is no problem.

I only think that's cool if it's rare. If you can get an original copy of the game for $5 then you're just being a lazy cheapass

Anything over 10 years old is fair game imo. Since it's most likely not being sold anymore.
If a remake, re-release or remaster comes out, should try and support that instead. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
