Not only is Bernie the most popular politician, he's the only one that the majority of voters approve of.

Bernie couldnt even beat Hillary. He is not supported by the majority of voters, not by a long shot.

It's well established that Hillary is one of the least popular politicians in the entire country. Clearly people could do better than her.

Doubtful. He technically didn't win the first time with an already low voter turnout. Now that he's polling really low with Democrats, Independents, and a good chunk of Republicans, coupled with people becoming more politically active as a result of this administration, I'd say it's pretty unlikely, but still possible.

The most idiotic thing democrats did was pick Hilary over Bernie, most people love the guy and support him.

I would have voted Sanders for POTUS if he was chosen as the main democrat, I voted Trump proudly cause Hilary is just that bad.

If the democrats have any intelligence they will back Bernie and Trump will not be winning a second time.

Honestly up in the air at this point.

Can he satisfy his base enough that they'll have the same enthusiasm for him in 2019?
Who is running against him?

Those are the two biggest variables.

Well whoever made that dumbass decision was a complete jackass, Bernie was the better pick, Hilary is just a terrible candidate, Trump beating her proves this.

Trump is a joke himself but the fact he won shows how not many wanted Hilary to be POTUS.

How can anyone look at an election where the EC and popular vote were split and the 3 states that swung the election were insanemy close and claim it was a "decisive and sound victory!" is beyond me.

But incumbents usually win. And he is transforming the country in terrible ways... look at the way people are voting in AL, that dude should be getting like 1% of the vote, yet he may actually win.

Have to expect yes.

Me too. Bush got re-elected despite everything. Absolutely nothing has been done to heal the divisions that got him elected in the first place. So why wouldnt his base vote for him again? All his team needs to do is spin his failures over to the Democrats.

The real question is, does Donald Trump WANT to run again? My guess is that he wants out and he wont want to run again if theres even the slightest chance that hell lose.

Trump won partially because democrats were complacent and didn't think they needed to go out and vote. It's how he broke through the democratic firewall.

His base may not be enough in 2020. Last year's election saw low turnout; what happens if the Democratic candidate isn't deeply terrible?

Moore could confess to everything and admit it and still likely win Alabama. Partisan lines always hold true for the majority. However the fact that Jones is as close as he is, and all the special election results so far since Trump have shown the Democrats performing far better than they have any right to do.

Trumps transforming the country alright, by getting the Democrats to actually give a damn about the midterms and showing up to vote

Democrats aren't that smart when it comes to voting. If their candidate isn't 'ideologically pure' they throw a fit and refuse to vote

Guys let's accept it, the ethnostate platform works for the GOP, and it's damn near impossible to defeat.

They've gotten people who assault reporters to congress. They've gotten people caught on tape saying they grab women by the p**** because they're stars elected. They may be about to elect a pedo to congress too.

Their voters are ok with losing healthcare and literally dying as long as the ethnostate agenda is going strong.

How do you beat such a thing?!

It's delusion like this that'll probably get him elected. Like how arrogant will leftists and Democrats be when it comes to Trump? You think his base will turn because the media that they think is fake and lying comes up with a bunch of stories?

You think folks who listen to Alex Jones Michael Savage and George Norey are gonna just go yeah. The Democrats keep doubling down on an agenda I hated I'm gonna magically vote for them.

If anything it might be easier because the left looks desperate. No matter what side you're on they appear more desperate. When you see how guys like olbermann or MSNBC back. It's like the fox birther shit.

He'll still have his stupid alt-right base but he will likely lose a lot of the "typical" republicans and independents that didn't like him but figured he wasn't as bad as Hillary. Democrats have to just not nominate the worst possible candidate.

I like how Bernie Bros continue living in denile and blaming the DNC as if whatever rigging there was stole the nomination from Bernie.

Hillary was the most popular Democrat after Obama.

Hillary was the popular choice in primary polling.

Hillary was the popular choice in primary votes (and subsequently in delegate count, even without the superdelegates)

Maybe you should re-evaluate your choice in political parties instead of grouping yourselves with one that is full of deplorables. A party full of voters and leaders that admire that vile woman and her rapist husband. But but Trump!

the major issue is the Dems don't seem to have a superstar pick right now. the only Congressperson I can think of with a good chance is Kaine, and who knows how damaged he'd be by association.

That leaves a governor, or a wildcard. Cuomo or Wolf? yay?

inbeforeBernie.

months and months of the spin machine saying Socialist every 5 minutes? No chance in hell.

So you're saying an establishment Democrat can't win because establishment Democrat, and no one who actually gives a shit about the electorate can win because SOCIALIST!

What does that leave you with?

me personally? Gary Johnson.
actual Democrats? a lot of tough questions.

edit: to be clear, I do this establishment democrats can win elections. I'm just not anywhere near sure about the next one.

The idea that you need a "superstar pick" three years in advance to beat Donald Trump is wild to me.
1. Basically any Democrat who isn't Hillary Clinton would have won last year.
2. Was Trump a superstar pick at this point in 2013? Was Obama in 2005?
