The game itself is $30 on PSN. There are five costume bundles for the characters - each one $16. That's $75 plus worth of costumes, and then they have single use XP boosters and item packs for sale. Tell me how you motherfuckers can quantify how costumes should cost $16 - over 1/2 the cost of the base game. Always gets my goat. They don't even make the costumes fun little extras that you can acquire in game anymore. Everything's all cynically monetised. It's irritating to see how far it's come.

They are. It's so fucking ridiculous. Atlus is doing the same thing with Persona 5, and it's incredibly disappointing.

Definitely. The last one with more than one other outfit in the base game to unlock but also with dlc was graces f. Which was what, the second one with dlc. :'(

Imagine Soul Calibur, but each costume and weapon costing a dollar fifty each. That seems like what they're doing nowadays.

Yeah anime games tend to be bad with this stuff, I loved Hearts R but couldn't bring myself to buy some of the costumes I wanted because of those absurd prices, and like others have said, it's sad to see that these costumes were once unlockables in game that are not being parted off as DLC.

Not to mention the costumes were cheaper in prior games. Like, $6-9 for a 4-6 pack of costumes. So to raise it to that much... Ugh. I'm guessing no pre order bonus outfits in the US either.

I think they started with that kind of thing with Shin Megami 4 on 3DS.

Definitely. The last one with more than one other outfit in the base game to unlock but also with dlc was graces f. Which was what, the second one with dlc. :'(

It is kind of annoying because finding the secret costumes felt like a neat accomplishment. Now, it's just a matter of pulling out the credit card. That's something that really irks me about DLC, stuff that used to be fun is just a microtransaction.

I have Tales of Graces f, Symphonia 1 and 2, Xillia, and Zestiria. I haven't yet bought any costume DLC and I don't really feel the urge to. I'm not going to spend extra on something like that for games I probably won't play more than once.

Seems like a foolish decision. I might be tempted if this was back in the day when I'd play the jrpgs I owned 5 or 6 times. But that was back in the PS1 and PS2 days.

I wonder how much money they would have made on Goldeneye 007 if they were able to monetize every single one of those gameplay modes that you unlocked in game.

In regards to Bandai Namco specifically, I've been wanting them to bring more Super Robot Wars games to the west for ages. Ever since the Original Generation games on GBA. But these days, I wouldn't be surprised if they released a game with OG characters and mecha, but then want to charge you microtransactions to play as Gundam, Evangelion, Macross, Gurren Lagann, Mazinkaiser, etc units.

Worse, if they did something like break the Gundam units into separate purchases for 0079, 0083, G, Wing, 00, CCA, etc.

Better not give them any ideas.

Paid costumes for single player one play through type games is laughable.

With something like League where at least you enjoy your skins repeatedly and can show them off is fun. But an RPG where you play alone and its a one time gaming experience is stupid. And then to make it expensive? Fuck that.
