the actual game got taken down 12 hours until the announcement. only had less than 2 weeks to plat it (average time was a week). had only that amount of window to get everything done.

Online-only guarantees the game will simply cease to function at some unspecified date in the future, usually with 18-24 months, unless "warcraft" is in the title somewhere. Any money spent on these products should be considered ephemeral entertainment, on par with theme park tickets, or overpriced themepark funnel cake.

Except still with a much, much greater entertainment:cost ratio than you'll get from those things. As much as games shutting down like this sucks, you still come out pretty well if you put even 10 hours into it.

That's not inherently a bad thing. Just apply a generous helping of good ol' Caveat Emptor while you're doing it.

Id argue that the game was wrecked by bad content and a lack of programmers.

They released characters long before they were fully developed. Some characters like Deadpool and The Hulk were out and playable for nearly a year before they actually gave them viable abilities and stats.

The game was also a pretty boring grind. There wasnt much to the story or events, and once they added the big city section that is where almost everyone played all the time. So the entire game was just running around a New York style area killing the same respawning enemies while you waited for a boss to spawn.

That was fine. The big problem for me was to pay to unlock heroes, which was just too expensive.

20 dollars to unlock one guy, wtf?
