I want my little guy to start off there first when he gets to college but wifey wants him to be in the university right away

god.... it's gonna cost us TONS of money if he goes university right away

i'd rather we save money and start him off at community college and let him transfer as a Junior

Military--> Community College--> University/4yr School--> Civilian Work Force

You'll save thousands not having to pay for schooling at all. He'll understand what it's like to start from the bottom and having to earn everything himself. He'll be financially secure, independent, confident and more mature. Will have an edge on the competition when applying for jobs regardless of GPA. And will get more poon than regardless of how many college frat parties he attends.

It's a win-win for everybody.

Worked great for me. Smaller classes, way cheaper, and at the end of just two years you already have an academic credential, Associates Degree, AS or AA. You go to a 4-year right away and you don't have any of those perks. And for some schools, if you already have an AA or an AS, you don't even have to take "basics" or general course at the 4 year. You don't even have to take the freaking SAT for a lot of schools if you have an Associates. I never took the SAT in my life and I graduated the University of Houston with a major in English Lit, a minor in French, and a 3.6 gpa, not to mention the AA 4.0 gpa I went in with.
Community College is the way to go!

Waste of time.

Tell him how to network right away. That is the most important thing overall, even moreso than college.

Well my youngest brother is failing half his classes in cc right now. He was so good in school and loved school up to this point. Leave it to a girlfriend to fuck things up. *sigh* He wants to get a job in fast food and stop college. Jfc! God I wish I was joking. He was the smartest of us, the one who could finally be the first to get a degree. The rest of us couldn't even get through cc. We were just done. Hated school with a burning passion.

Oh who knows though. Every college graduate I've ever had as a boss have been the absolute dumbest people I've ever met. Shouldn't be in charge of a bowl of jello much less people.

The same people who malign CC are the same people who talk down about trade schools. Can't trust their opinions tbh.

If you move to NYC 1 year (or is it 6 months?) before he starts college then he can apply for the excelsior scholarship. The state will pay for his entire college tuition while he goes to school there. The only stipulations are that he has to maintain a gpa above 2.0 (that's easy), take 5 classes per semester and after he graduates he has to stay in New York for the same amount of time that he went to college there. If you break any of those conditions then the scholarship converts into a loan

Not everyone can handle 5 classes every semester

Anyways TC you're the one with the right idea here. It's cheaper that way and when he goes to university he won't have to worry about any gen eds
