Mega Man and MMX are different.

The main difference is that X has free will. The whole reason he was in stasis was because Light was running tests to make sure X's personality wasnt "homicidal maniac".

Zero was created by Wily. But he didnt kill Megaman. That theory was shot down by Inafune himself (kek)

Mega Man is eventually captured by Wily, reprogrammed into an evil, pogo-riding robot, who travels to the past to get killed by himself. Yes, that's canon. >_>

Does the last bit not actually happen though, since Quint is defeated? Time travel is confusing. >_>

It would mean that that is Mega Man's eventual demise, but that won't happen until some time after Mega Man 10. Though the game in which it happens doesn't mention it, Mega Man & Bass has a trophy that gives the story. Kind of a shakey source but MM&B: Challenger from the Future backs it up as a part of its main plot. Also, though it's not clear whether this depends on which character you play as, the villain of that game is also a future Mega Man, at least in Mega Man's story. Bass's was a little harder to understand for translation reasons but it seemed to me to imply that he was instead a copy of Quint.

Ah, I've never even heard of that game... I thought it was just a version of RM&F on the wonderswan; not a different game.
