He continues to surprise me. Aside from the "Re-revisited" episodes, in which he revisited games from some of the early episodes which ran less than 10 minutes, he's never gone back and completed a game like that before. This is the first time he's done a followup on a full length episode.

Props to him for suffering his way through that whole game. That looks truly awful.

While he doesn't beat a lot of the games in the show, he clearly only played the first level and maybe second level his first run through.

As far as views are concerned, his channel is doing fine with all the other videos they pump out.

I was hoping that the episode would just end with him beating Sonic's levels, and then realizing there were several more episodes before actually beating the game. Glossing over the absolute worst of Silver, Shadow, and the Final Episode's level lost a ton of great content that could have been included. Oh well.

Here's to hoping that James and Mike taped the actual gameplay sessions to put up on Youtube later.

There were some funny bits here and there, but the episode itself felt really, really rushed.

It probably doesn't help that he is putting out most of these episodes at an incredible speed. I kinda wonder whats up that? I wonder if he is somehow hurting for money.

It really would have been better being a 4 or 5 part series, especially considering how successful Let's Plays of the entire game have been over the past decade.

No kidding. Seeing him (or Mike, whoever actually played it) do the pinball segment of Silver's storyline would have made for a video by itself.

I really doubt AVGN videos are all that profitable or are very money motivated.

Edit: He also doesn't finish a ton of games that he reviewed in the past. Oftentimes he'll just get halfway and cheat to the end for the sake of the video.

Mike makes the bread and butter content for the channel, and James occasionally uploads bigger projects.

It's just fascinating how bad Sonic '06 is. Even assuming that he skipped over some good points to paint a very negative picture, there are just so many decisions which didn't belong in a Sonic game.

It's like they threw Final Fantasy, The Terminator, Metal Gear Solid, and whatever anime they happened to watch the week before into a blender and legitimately thought it would produce an epic masterpiece.

It's a perfect example of why Mario has always maintained a focus on gameplay rather than continuity or characterization.
