The removal of the booklets inside game cases.
I'm talking the detailed 15+ page booklets.

God damn shame.

I actually miss fighting game strategy guides the most. Giving a general overview of game mechanics, every attack, frame data, combos, and in-depth strategy for every character was really helpful in UMvC3.

All the websites combined didn't have everything that that one single guide had.

It's not the same. Presentation of information matters a lot., but maybe I am old fashioned.

The Internet doesn't have hilarious asides featuring Cranky Kong completely shitting on the game that my 6 year self in 1996 found hilarious, though.

It wasn't much more than ten years ago my routine was to bring a game home, open it up and take the manual out back and look it over while having a smoke, then coming inside and firing it up.

Now, I do an online purchase and walk away for a few hours while it downloads.

I recently started re-playing dragon quest 8 on my ps2, and took a look at the manual. Made me nostalgic for the old days. Sometimes they were really well done.

When I was a little kid, I'd always read the manual first.

Blizzard games came with veritable TOMES of lore and art. Captured my imagination like no other.

The last great booklet I remember was the Contra 4 one. Appropriate, because it was designed to mimic the style of Konami's NES ones.

This is a big loss for me. I have a lot of siblings, friends, and family that stays over a lot. I wish there were more options for co-op.
