LaMelo Ball is not currently expected to be granted eligibility after graduating high school because his Big Baller Brand signature shoe violates NCAA rules on amateurism.

"The NCAA's not going to clear (LaMelo) because he's got a shoe right now, a sneaker where he's making money off of," ESPN's Jeff Goodman said on Outside the Lines on Tuesday.

Ball is considered one of the top prep guards in the country. 247Sports currently ranks him 15th overall in the Class of 2019.

Discussion of his eligibility came a day after LaVar Ball pulled his son LiAngelo out of UCLA due to displeasure about the school's handling of his shoplifting case in China. LiAngelo was one of three players arrested in what became an international incident.

LaVar Ball placed the blame on the school, which he says was too harsh on the players.

"You shouldn't hang them on the cross for this long for that," Ball said on CNN Tuesday. "A kid wants to play basketball all his life. You take that away, that's worse than jail. Why should we as parents and adults keep jumping on them? It's not like we're going through life without making mistakes...China already forgave the boys. They returned it. Why keep them from playing sports and take their meal passes? You already sent a message. They already apologized. What's the big deal?"

LaMelo Ball was previously pulled out of Chino Hills High School after repeated disagreements between LaVar and the administration and coaching staff. LaVar has said he plans to train LaMelo himself for the next two years until he's scheduled to attend UCLA.

Shams Charania of The Vertical reported the Ball family is also exploring potential overseas options for LiAngelo and LaMelo. Any professional experience would instantly make LaMelo ineligible to play at UCLA.

You can' get this music scholarship because you got a gig playing at weddings.

No. It's a rampant issue that they have been snaking through loopholes for years because they can simply say they are compensating the "student-athletes" with a free "education" (which we all know is a joke, especially if the UNC class thing is as rampant as I'm sure it is).

The reason LaMello is in this situation is because his dad gave him a shoe on his dad's own clothing line KNOWING that this would hurt his College Basketball chances.

his middle kid who was caught stealing in China was pulled out of UCLA BY BALL after he was disciplined by the school for getting arrested during a school basketball trip. LiAngelo is now apparently going to enter the NBA Draft next season instead of trying to find a new school...He is projected to be UNDRAFTED leaving him no way to really improve his draft stock unless he plays overseas, and any potential scholarship that might have come his way is also gone.

At this point he isn't just saying stupid stuff...he's making decisions for his kids that are putting them in difficult positions.

LiAngelo isn't a kid, he's 19. His father can't force him to do anything, and he can tell the old man to fuck off whenever he wants. LaMello is the only one who still has to put up that LeVar's stupidity.

But playing overseas>>>playing in college. He gets paid and gets needed experience.

To be fair he was projected to go undrafted before all of this. But LeVar acting the way he does is putting both of his other sons in a Kaepernick like situation, sure they might be good enough to play in the league but their not good enough to be worth the distraction.
