I feel like shit, but I've done this before - I know the drill. Lots of sweating, nausea, general malaise, and a hell of an urge to say "fuck it" and drink anyway. I've stocked up on good comfort food and Gatorade. I've also announced my intentions to several people that I trust, and they're all for it. I'm not the kind of drinker that swears they'll change and then keep disappointing everyone - if I drink, I keep it to myself until I can't hide it anymore, and then I just isolate and fall off the grid. Very dangerous.

I cashed in a sick day today to dry out. My boss is a recovering alcoholic himself, so while I keep telling myself that he's annoyed, I'm pretty sure he's just concerned and hoping to have me back to normal. We've had a few long talks about my future there and his own experiences with drinking, and I'm not going to let this drag me down. 10 years of rampant alcoholism and drug abuse is enough.

Well, the worst of the physical symptoms are over. It wasn't that bad this time around. Now comes the hard part.

I get drunk about once per year... I havent been big on it since I was 19~... I got super ruined when I went to visit family in England and it lost its appeal. Ill drink a Guinness when Im having food allergies because it magically calms everything down and the pains go away (I dont like the taste, sadly).

In the same boat right now. I quit back february started again in June and got arrested shortly after Halloween and I haven't had a drink since.

I've started going to AA meetings too. They really help to have people talk to, I'm not 100% sold on going everyday yet (been a week straight so far) but and having a sponsor to help with this is nice too.

I've been in and out of AA/NA for years, among other things. I've never been big on the hardcore spiritual stuff, but it's nice knowing that I can walk into a room with a bunch of people who will accept me no matter what.
