It was nonsensical horde mode action completely unlike the first game in both atmosphere, style and gameplay and it was insanely boring. Not to mention how fucking ugly it was. If nothing else in DMC you could see what you were looking at. In DMC everything looked ugly as fuck because the engine needed ot focus resources on loading large open spaces and a fuckton of models. On a smaller note the way it approached the story and characters was also stupid and unlike the first game. Completely unengaging, in so far as there was any character moments. I could not finish it.
