The last time a superhero movie was nominated for directing, acting, or writing was all the way back when Heath Ledger won for The Dark Knight but if there was ever a year where superhero movies deserved a nod, it's this year, with Logan and Wonder Woman being two of the best and most critically acclaimed superhero films ever. I was really thinking Logan would manage to scrounge up a nomination (Best Actor for Jackman, Best Supporting for either Keen or Stewart) but now I'm really hesitant that'll be the case. Wonder Woman was excellent but didn't really push the boundaries of superhero films.
