Up until the early 30s, it was against the law in the US for men to go topless in public. If a man wanted to swim at the beach, he had to wear this:

Topless day? Women can go topless all year round in Manhattan. It was made legal for them to do so for equality since men can walk around topless, and it's pretty awesome when you see it.
